Great coffee, and family friendly. I was impressed by the sweet toddler/kids area they have set up in the corner.

I stopped in for lunch yesterday before a movie and decided to try something new- the young man at the register was WONDERFUL. So full of kindness and energy. I selected an organic tea (Sense?) to have as iced tea and the Chicken Salad with greens, grapes, watermelon radish.
Now- let this be said, I have been here before, they have GREAT coffee and pastries. I had a chicken salad wrap a few years back and that was tasty-
Today's chicken salad was (I am so so sorry to say this) AWFUL. First of all it was kind of orangy brown in color, everything chopped up tiny- so no chance at presentation because of this. When I started to eat- it was like I was slapped with my food! Seriously. The mixture was as yucky as it looked..... and again, I am so so sorry to say. But they need to take this version off their menu ASAP and go back to the old recipe.
It was very sharp and spicy, the chicken shredded and overcooked- and like I said all the aromatics were chopped up tiny- so no picking through. The dressing was lovely- and would hav been great on the old recipe- and the greens were lovely and fresh- but both were ruined.
On top of that the organic tea, was soooo bitter. I added three packets of sugar- and coupled with the rest of my lunch, too much to take. All of it went to the compost.
They were busy- and I did not bring any of this to anyone of the employees attention- it is true. Honestly I didn't want to embarrass anyone.
I LOVE Zocalo- I LOVE the employees- it is clean and very community oriented with even a separate play area for children- but PLEASE FOLKS... please bring back the old chicken salad mixture.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 10, 2024
Nice area, open seating, and very kind person who took our order.
The coffee is as any light roasted coffee is.
The only reason I was not so happy was that the person who brought the coffee to our table literally spilled it, saw that it happened, said nothing, and left. Lol idk man at least say sorryHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1291113Sep 8, 2024
Great local family owned coffee shop. Their coffee is hot and tasty. Their avocado toast is a hugely popular item. Staff are friendly and helpful. Sometimes there can be a line but goes quickly. Inside and outside seating. On Fridays they have started doing events like vinyl records night or game night. Hopefully adding movie nights in the future. They also sell beautiful flowers. Street parking only which may get busy on the weekends. It's a wonderfully unique spot.

My sister lives nearby so i decided to try this place out for a few hours of working.
Lots of tables and lots of electrical outlets if you need some power when working! I really appreciate this - not many places make sure it's easy to get work done.
The cashier was super friendly. I got a coffee and avocado toast. It was super fresh and pretty and very tasty. So many places skimp on the avocado but this is not the case here. The greens were a nice touch as well. And the radish was pretty.
Definitely recommend Zocalo!! I will come back!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1432991886Feb 28, 2024
The cutest little coffee shop in downtown San Leandro. Truly a hidden gem. I wasnt expecting it to be so warm and inviting inside based off the photos on here, but it was! Maybe it was all of the green plants, the family photos on the wall, the cute kids area, or huge selection of board games -- but overall I really enjoyed this cafe.
I, of course, got a iced matcha latte with oat milk and sugar free vanilla -- so yummy!
i would so go here again just for the vibes or even to work. Truly recommend, dont sleep on this place!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 38137228Apr 9, 2024
Liked everything about this cafe. Had an hour to kill while our cat was getting his chemo nearby so we decided to get some coffee and eats here.
Ordered the breakfast egg sandwich, peanut butter banana toast both were excellent and we got a side of scrambled eggs which was just ok.
The coffee is the star here. We got the medium roast and wow wow wow , loved it.
Really liked the space, the music playing in the background, the restroom and most importantly the nice folks working here. Will be back .Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Mar 10, 2024
Such a fun and funky little neighborhood spot with coffee made the way it should be.
The kind of spot with such a diverse community it's a joy, right down to the quirky older guy singing and shimmying in line beside me.
The service is lovely.
The prices are a bit much, I struggle with $15 avocado toast but I suppose that's the state of the world these days!!! Will absolutely return again and again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
