How much does Fence repair cost?

Steel fences. While stronger than aluminum, steel isn’t impervious to damage. For steel fences that are 4 feet tall or shorter,  repairs or replacing sections with new fence panels can cost $75–500. Larger 6-foot-tall steel fences cost an average of $400–2,500+ to fix, especially if whole fence sections or posts must be replaced. 

Metal fences. Welding might be required to reconnect metal components of steel and wrought iron fences, for an average cost of $150–450. If a post has been damaged, expect to pay $40–120 to straighten or $80–350 to replace it. 

Chain link fences. Small holes in chain link fencing can usually be patched, at a cost of $75–140. But larger repairs typically fall in the $200–300+ range, especially if 2 workers are required or the metal mesh needs to be rewoven. 

Fence gates. Repairing or replacing gates can cost anywhere from $100–450, depending on the gate’s size, type, and amount of damage. If only latches need to be fixed, an experienced handyperson can usually handle the task in a couple of hours for $40–80 per hour, plus materials.
