Full service. Full-service interior design includes the professional support of the designer in every facet of the project. The interior designer will help you select furniture and fittings, source the materials, order furniture, and manage the installation of all the elements. The designer will work closely with the general contractor and/or home builder. This price does not include the cost of materials and installation. Average cost: $15,000–30,000

Hourly rate. The hourly rate will depend on the experience level of the designer and how involved they are in the process, usually between $75–400 per hour. This rate does not include the cost of materials or installation.

Square foot. Many interior designers charge a rate based on square footage. This rate usually involves design services only, such as planning, technical drawings, furniture selection, fixtures, interior finishes, lighting, and décor.
