Nampak Liquid Cartons has once again joined forces with Fibre Circle and Infinite Industries to showcase the power of innovative recycling. Building on the success of last year's project, which saw recycled cartons turned into school desks, the partners have now installed eco-friendly roof sheets at the Roodepoort-Krugersdorp SPCA as part of the Eco-Paws initiative. The roofing sheets, crafted from over 530 000 recycled liquid cartons—are a testament to what can be achieved when we think creatively about waste. By replacing outdated asbestos roofing on the kennels, they are not only enhancing the safety and comfort for our furry friends but also helping contribute solutions to the country’s growing waste challenges by creating world class products from recycled liquid beverage cartons.

Wine packaging has evolved significantly in recent years, reflecting changes in consumer perceptions and lifestyles. There are now more options than ever, from traditional glass bottles with screw tops to bag-in-a-box, liquid cartons, and even cans. Liquid cartons, in particular, are gaining traction. NielsonIQ data shows that in South Africa, the volume of wine sold in cartons has increased by over 50% from 2022 to 2023, continuing into 2024.   Cartons may seem unconventional for wine, but their design and features make them appealing to both wine makers and consumers.
