Is that a PURPLE passport?! Yes, it is! When U.S. citizens lose their passport or it gets stolen abroad, our consular teams are here to help. We issue emergency passports, and they come in purple! These passports are valid for one year or less and may not be accepted by all countries. So, once you're back in the United States, be sure to replace it with a full-validity passport. #ConsularAffairs

𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐭? Dr. Derek Fish, South African Institute of Physics Education Award Winner 2024 & Fulbright alumnus shares why you shouldn't miss this incredible opportunity! Through the Fulbright South Africa Research Scholar program, Dr. Derek Fish spent nine months at Oregon State University in the United States, collaborating with two of the foremost researchers in the field of science education. This experience allowed him to connect with numerous other experts and significantly expand his academic and research network. Being away from his regular duties provided the invaluable time to focus solely on research and personal development. Through Unizulu, the Physics Institute, and the Science Centre network, Dr. Fish and his team aim to establish as many science centers as possible. Participating in two Fulbright Opportunity Lecturing Fund (OLF) programs in Puerto Rico and North Carolina, offered another fantastic opportunity, fostering connections with Fulbright Alumni in both locations. The Fulbright network and support made all of this possible. Becoming a South African Fulbright Research Scholar has opened a new world of opportunities for Dr. Fish, including research, international collaborations, networking, personal growth, and intellectual stimulation. It has been a life-changing experience, made possible by the support of the Fulbright program. This program serves as a crucial cultural and academic bridge between South Africa and the U.S. Although the application process is competitive, it's worth the effort.
