SA Navy for 11 years, performing systems engineering, functional design and management of new electronic weapons systems and tactical simulators.
Decided to leave military environment for more commercial experience. Co-founded electronic business working in the maritime space, developing innovative ship stabilising systems.
Call back to defence market evolved as Executive Manager of Naval Electronic Engineering business for 16 years, developing state of the art Electronic Warfare systems for local and foreign navies.
Now involved in business development, project and engineering management in the Maritime space (commercial and military).
Specialties: Requirements analysis, being able to formulate user requirements into a detailed specification. Solutions identification through research and development, innovation, new product development or existing product enhancement.
Provider of practical engineering management, technical integration at systems level, programme management of large, complex multi-disciplinary projects.
Business development and marketing, utilising both government and industry connections and networks, to assist businesses with new venture definition and feasibiity studies, and implementation.
Customer engagement, requirements definition and providing innovative maritime solutions to meet business and military goals, is my forte!

A computerised planned maintenance system integrated with inventory and safety Management is the basis to start. Proper training from OEMs and a motivated technical team who understand the benefits of operational availability of a vessel and it's impact on the success of the business Marad FMS is a proven suite of ready to use tools in this regard .

What are the best ways to minimize system maintenance disruptions?
Implementing and following a sound planned maintenance system is a great start, and then following it rigorously and adjusting where and when needed. Buy in from well trained maintenance personnel tops off a successful approach to reducing downtown and increasing systems operational availability. I have implemented the MARAD planned maintenance system on some vessels, and the improvement of vessel availability is amazing!
