About us

The Women’s Entrepreneurial Center of Resources, Education, Access, and Training for Economic Empowerment (WECREATE), is a physical entrepreneurial hub that can be replicated in any community. Each WECREATE Center is tailored to a country’s specific economic needs and built in a safe and centralized location for women to gain access to vital economically empowering resources. The resources provided enable entrepreneurs to move from the informal sector into the formal sector, while generating momentum for measurable economic and societal change. The WECREATE Project is specifically designed to advance gender equality in entrepreneurship through a portfolio of programs, tools, and events created to address barriers faced by women seeking to start and grow their businesses. The Center’s collaborative approach convenes key players to develop an entrepreneurial ecosystem in a culturally sensitive and safe environment for women.     🐝 Due to their size, proximity to local communities and direct access to local knowledge, green micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (#MSMEs) hold an enormous potential to contribute to biodiversity conservation in Malawi and Zambia. Over the last three years, adelphi has helped MSMEs in Malawi and Zambia scale their biodiversity-friendly business models and improve their access to green finance through the 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 project. Support has been directed towards MSMEs themselves, as well as financial and public institutions operating within the countries. 🌱 🌍 The latest 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗙𝗔 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 reveals improved impact and significant growth of green MSMEs in Malawi and Zambia: 📈 • Area managed by green MSMEs has increased by 32% from 2022 to 2023 → 1,680 hectares. • Average annual revenue has increase by at least 16% from 2022 to 2023. • Improvements were also made in gender equality: 43.5% of employees in BioFA-supported enterprises are female in 2023! \(7.3% increase from 2022\).
