The Africa Giving platform is a platform to make it easy for people to give from anywhere in the world to African non-profits of their choice. Our recent campaign raised over $9,100 and the impact of those funds is already being felt by communities. We’ve curated one case study after a visit to the the Society for Pre and Post-Natal Services in Ruwa Harare. Find out about the impact of your giving in our latest blog: https://lnkd.in/dGijE4UW #giving #africagiving #donation #giveback #give #community

At the beginning of the year, we started a campaign to raise money through the Africa Giving platform. The campaign successfully raised over 90% of the target goal. Recently we found time to visit an organization that received funds from this campaign. The benches they bought may seem small to someone else but for them and the expecting mothers they serve, this has made an enormous difference to the experience of pregnant women and new mothers during a clinic visit. Now the mothers can take a seat and rest from the hot sun before they see a medical practitioner. That is the impact of Africa Giving. Find out more about this donation here: https://lnkd.in/dGijE4UW Or better yet take time to give by going online and making a donation here: https://africagiving.org #philanthropy #africa #giving #giveback #donate #community #zimbabwe

The shape and form of our city streets has changed a lot in the last decade. The buildings are overshadowed by the desperation of vendors grappling for a sale so they can feed their families. It’s not because they are uneducated, many may have tertiary qualifications which could get them into a choice job if they were in another country. Unemployment and poor-quality jobs have been a major concern for Zimbabwe for a while. Our latest policy brief on unemployment has outlined the concerns that citizens in our Policy Advocacy Lab have regarding job creation in Zimbabwe. The third policy brief from the 2023 Policy Advocacy Lab is available. Its focus is on unemployment in Zimbabwe. This phenomenon has been an issue since poorly planned economic programs caused industry closures and policy inconsistency reduced investor confidence in the country. Coupled with a weak support system for small businesses the end result has been high rates of unemployment and poor-quality jobs. The recommendations here were made by citizens in the Policy Advocacy Lab. We’ve been experimenting with labs since 2020. These are collegial, iterative, and practical learning spaces for citizens to interrogate and immediately practice what they have learnt to ensure their intellectual knowledge is supported by practice. In this journey we have learnt the importance of allowing citizens to find their voice through the lab process. From the 2023-24 Policy Advocacy Lab, we compiled the learnings of participants into three policy briefs. They highlight three major issues affecting Zimbabwe’s development, namely corruption, price instability and unemployment. Corruption is pervasive. Like a virus or cancer that requires unorthodox means to treat, so too does the scourge of corruption in Zimbabwe require urgent and apologetic attention. Citizens in Zimbabwe have complied some actions the Government of Zimbabwe can take to deal with the phenomenon effectively: Read more in this policy brief with content from the 2023-24 Policy Advocacy Lab: https://lnkd.in/dBdUR2nJ. #corruptioninzimbabwe #corruptioninafrica #justice #goodgovernance #economicdevelopment #zimbabwe #aquestforaninclusivesociety

Our second policy brief from The Policy Advocacy Lab is now available. It is a discourse on corruption in Zimbabwe. The write-up highlights some of the measures put in place to curb corruption but notes that little progress has been made in terms of actual prosecution of offenders. This policy brief juxtaposes the legislative 'progress' with concerns of #Zimbabweans that corruption is on the increase and the impact is evident in communities across the country. Our week started off with the SIVIO team participating in this year's African Philanthropy Conference which was preceded by an Academic Conference. Our team made some input during the academic conference in line with work SIVIO is doing with CAPSI and Mastercard focusing on the role of non-profits in youth employment. #africagiving #giveback #give #Africanphilanthropy @AfriPhilConf #AfPhilConf2024

Yesterday our Executive Director- Tendai Murisa was on a panel looking at Learning, Unlearning and Rebuilding at the 5th African Philanthropy Conference themed the Next Frontiers of African Philanthropy. The conference is casting a light on youth led philanthropy. Tendai Murisa gave a well-timed presentation on the giving trends in Zimbabwe, highlighting the role of the youth. His focus was on Generation Z and how they have leveraged on technology in their giving. Young people need to trust the organisations they give to. This understanding of technology and the need for trust have informed our development of a giving platform Africa Giving which now has representation in 16 African countries. #africagiving #giveback #give #Africanphilanthropy #AfPhilConf2024

In 2023 we initiated the process of developing a mobile application to harness individual giving in Africa. We wanted to create a platform that can cross the boundaries of multiple countries and territories. We succeeded and now have the AfricaGiving Platform hosting at least 112 organisations from 16 African countries. We've curated our learning journey from the last year into a blog available on our blog site SIVIO Connect.
