IKEA Home smart 4+

No import from previous app?

First of all, connecting devices became way easier than in the previous app, much appreciated!

That said, I still don’t enjoy connecting devices to a hub enough to do it for fun: I would really like to have a way to import the two dozen or so devices I have set up in the old app.
(Discarding the work users have done in a previous version of software by not having some kind of compatibility is not great practice.)
I would love to see a version of this app that will resolve that problem.

Another feature that would make my life a lot easier during initial installation, and later troubleshooting, I imagine, is some kind of test menu, which will show me connected device and their states, including sensor states, button pushes, etc.

An added feature of such a menu might be to have a function to send details of devices that have issues the developers: at least in the old app, I would loose connectivity to random devices, especially the ones that I don’t use often. I imagine that sort of intermittent issue is easier to fix with information from the offending devices.

No Dicso mode

Installing is easy! But sad to see there is no disco mode anymore.. will this come back in The future?

Good day, so I’ve been a IKEA smarthome user from day one. I think the last time we pressed a light button in this or my previous home has been 10 years ago. I love the quality of IKEA products. However I feel the IKEA developers or better: decision makers are not IKEA staff by heart. They don’t follow IKEA standard: the importance of ease of use.

So the tradfri hub app really went from a 0.2 version that was released in production, because for real…. It was pathetic in the beginning, but it went from that to a good working app. Especially the timers work really well and are easy to find, set up and alter.

So here is the new hub. How do I set up timers? I don’t know. I can’t find it anywhere. No you need to test out a scene and after you set up a bogus scene then you can choose a timer. But… you can only start 1 hour before sunset. But the back of the house is already dark for hours by than, why can’t I start 3 hours before? In the previous (tradfri) app I believe you can start 4 hours before.
So why not in the new one? Why would you remove options you’ve introduced years ago?

And then, why make it so difficult to find and adjust timers? In the previous app it was 1 click away, it’s right there on the first screen when opening the app. I miss options, I miss the ease of use, I just don’t understand why we need to inform IKEA about this, just run a compare?!?

So thanks for all the effort in making it easier to set up new products (well actually, the developers of zigbee did that for you), thanks for delivering good hardware products, IKEA products never disappoint. But now in 2024 we may expect better from your software. Especially if you already had it, but forgot about it. That’s neglect.

A few things have remained the same, a lot has changed, and you are right: some of the things you were used to from TRÅDFRI gateway feel quite different with DIRIGERA hub.
