Annoying AVR informing you that offices …

Annoying AVR informing you that offices are closed only after having filled in all personal information required for customer recognition, upon web service disruption. What is the point of filling in all the numbers if there is going to be no service? They should just have told me the offices are closed at the beginning of the call. Better yet have customer service open on the weekend!

Unprofessional, Crazy People Constantly Spamming My Phone

I am not even WITH these people's services, and yet they have proven to be a rubbish piece of crap, unprofessional company. The experience I've had for over a year is unacceptable and shocking.

I got a call from these people about a year ago and they have been asking to talk to a certain man. They state the name of the man and I clearly tell them I do NOT know him and am not related to him and that they are calling the wrong number. I told them to take me off the list. Since then, I have gotten maybe FIFTY or more calls over the year with the same rant. Either they have the WRONG number or my number belonged to some moron in the past. I have even gotten my parents to tell these losers they are calling the WRONG NUMBER. We specifically specified to them over fifty times to REMOVE OUR NUMBER FROM THEIR LIST, and they even put us through a 10 minute wait and CONFIRMED that my number was finally removed from their list and that they would NOT contact us again. Just weeks later, they began to contact me again. I blocked their number but unfortunately, they can still leave voicemails, and so repeatedly they keep spamming my phone. My constant ignoring of their spamming phone calls doesn't seem to be getting to their nonexistent brains so they continue to spam. Let them waste their time, because I simply have to delete their 'voicemail' off and move on with my day.

Still awaiting my new credit card

I applied and was accepted for an American Express credit card on 15th February 2017. After three weeks and still not receiving my card I contacted them and was told a new one would be sent out within the week. No one seemed worried or concerned where both the pin or card had gone. I was also concerned that there was a special promotion on the card which expired three months after applying for the card. I was told the promotional period could not be extended. Two weeks on, still no card. I again called and was told a new card would be sent out AGAIN for the third time. But yet again no one seemed even slightly concerned that no cards had been received or letters with my pin details. I now believe no cards have been sent. So now 27th March 2017 no cards, late or not have been received. I have usually had credit cards with Mastercard and Visa with no problems ever. I have been very disappointed by this service and will definitely recommending American Express

I wish every company was like AMEX

Simple straight forward credit! I have the gold card and it works for me, the reward points are excellent and their customer service is 10/10

I know they charge a fee but trust me it's worth every penny! Plus you get the fee back over the year due to the points system so everyone's happy

Horrible credit company

I was 1 day late with payment for the first time in months and they raised my interest from 14 to 29% also reported me to credit bureau and my credit score dropped more than 20 points!! I will definitely not recommend them to anybody... I wish I could give them 0 stars and I hope a lot of people will avoid them because they are scams. Oh and also they increased my minimum payment from $60 to $98 without notice... Good bye AMEX! shame on you

Best customer service bar none

I was a victim of fraud on Boxing Day. A second, larger transaction was caught by Amex but unfortunately a smaller transaction went through. Amex acted immediately - at 9pm on Boxing Day. After a 2 minute conversation card was cancelled, replacement sent, transaction refunded and I was on my way. I now have another (different) dispute with a retailer I used and Amex are once again brilliant. Couldn't hesitate to recommend them enough. THE BEST.

Friendly but useless

Had to apply three times. Once application was received but "lost" (hello digital age?), second time they requested verification that was no possible to produce (HSBC does not stamp), and lastly could not progress because my flat number was identical to my house number (yes, I know). I've given up now, and cannot recommend. Staff are friendly but that's all.

So far so good

I applied for an American Express Platinum and it took them nearly 4 months to give it to me: they kept going around in circles with a bank statement -_- (they wanted it to be stamped by the bank, but my bank eliminated stamps ages ago as an anti-forgery measure).

I must say that, after this troubled beginning, they always behaved perfectly. Every time I needed them, their customer service was excellent, quick and helpful.

Used to be great. Not anymore.

I've had an American Express Platinum Cashback card for years. Tried to swap it for an Avios Airmiles one but Amex keep refusing. They won't give me a proper explanation for why I can't simply exchange one card for the other. The t & cs are pretty much the same but I just keep getting a "computer says no" response. It's a shame; Amex used to have great customer service, but not anymore.

10 years of happy membership!

The customer service of american express is quite amazing... You will never wait for someone to take your call, you will be never "put on line" and asked to wait, American Express trust their customers and really serve them. A lot of company should take example on them !

A week to get £3000 of MY money back into MY bank account

How can a Global financial services company justify keeping my money for so long? Couldn't pay MY money into the bank account I wanted. Under duress I agreed they could pay it into the account they wanted!! Then told it would take 5-7 days to get my money back to me! I asked to speak to a manager...waited over 15 minutes in total and got told no managers and someone would get to me in 5 days.

All the customer disservice rep kept saying was " I can't do that...I can't do that...". He did say he would be as frustrated as I was if he were in my shoes...but still couldn't do anything.

This company is driven by systems, policies and procedures which work against the customer. Don't get an AMEX card!!

Just A Great Card Company

I can't see how I would fault Amex. Their own or co-branded cards are really good and do provide good value for money. The customer service team is super helpful. The Amex Travel team is especially helpful.

All in all a great company.

Liars- refusing to honour rewards system

Shocking, bordering on inducement fraud. Took out the Platinum Express Cashback Card which rewards a % cashback on purchases. The process is that you accrue your cashback and then it is rewarded back to you in a single sum annually. So for a year I accrued cashback by spending on the American Express card (most of the time only spending on this card because I was under the impression I'd get cashback!), and fulfilled their T&Cs ...then the year expired and rather than receive my cashback (approx £50-£60) it simply reset to £0 and I received no statement credit. They refuse to re-apply this cashback as we are now in a separate year, and they are deliberately ignoring/ acting like they dont understand that my complaint relates to last years cashback earnings.

I have boycotted them ever since and I now use the Tesco Clubcard Mastercard instead; I find their customer services a lot better and you actually receive the rewards rather than being lied to for a year then have it all revoked. It angers me that I have spent 3-4 thousand pounds on this American Express card for no rewards whatsover, whereas I could have spend on the Tesco Mastercard instead, and earned 3-4 grand worth of clubcard points.

I've also attempted to mitigate by asking American Express if rather than reward me with the cashback, to instead credit my Nectar American Express Card with £3,000 worth of Nectar points.... they offered me nothing. Not even a token gesture. I would have expected them to offer something but they're happy for me to withdraw all spending and effectively carry 2 unused hollow accounts with them.

misleading promises

Buying insurance... Nic words, good promises which this company never keeps. I bought a bathroom furniture set and paid with the Americanexpress card (in The Netherlands), the set arrived with defects on front doors: a seller refused to admit it and logically I asked AmEx to reimburse me for the damages based on their offer coming with the card but it was not the case: they asked for new and new pictures of defects and then after some thinking about it they just refused to do it because... it was not included into my insurance. They told me that if it were stolen then it would be a case for a consideration. I used google translate, sent them the original Dutch text and its translation - nothing worked. If I paid for this defected set with my ICS card the money would be reimbursed without any two-months e-mail correspondence. Now I sit with EUR 425 losses and an ugly looking bathroom set without any compensation from AmEx despite their promises.((( Plus to this I had to chase them for 3 months to get the bonus points for KLM flights which were promised by their sales agent at Schiphol, he wrote the offers down and he made a mistake and AmEx did not want to admit it, in the end they debited me some compensations but it was about 9 calls to a company telling the same story each time. Not recommended to deal with at all.

Awesome Card

Just starting year 2 with a BA Amex.

1. They gave me 2 free tickets to Abu Dhabi in Business - just miles & taxes - Thank you.
2. Online security is VERY strong.
3. Despite others here my two interactions with Customer Service was really positive.

BAD
1. Do not use abroad, ie not your home country - their FX rates and fee's are not great. Well at least with the card above.

That said I love this card, I like to travel and free flights are WELCOME for just day to day spending.

Not Customer Care Professionals anymore

We had to ring American Express about three fraudulent transactions on our credit card. We were told to wait and a "Customer Care Professional" would be with us soon.

Our definition of a Customer care Professional does include NOT someone who can not clearly understand what we are saying and whose mother tongue is not English. People who call you by the wrong names and who can not pronounce our names does not inspire confidence.

Then being asked to provide financial information to someone overseas does not inspire confidence, particularly when we have already been defrauded.

Dear American Express - please note why big corporations like BT, Santander and EE are bringing back their call centres from India. Going there to save money helped trash their brands and cost them a fortune.
