Marissa is the Director of Planning in Physical & Environmental Planning, focusing on coordination of decision-making around the built environment, from signage to buildings and master plans. Marissa joined CSAC to learn about the campus and community from other perspectives, and for the opportunity to help and effect change. Planning school left Marissa with a strong belief in the public good; Marissa holds an SB, MCP, and MArch from MIT. Marissa also enjoys baking and organizing things.

People Operations Manager, Berkeley IT

Clarissa is the People Operations Manager in Berkeley IT’s People, Performance, and Culture Team, where she oversees the development and administration of HR Operations' workflow, processes, systems, and tools. Additionally, she leads the HR analytics for Berkeley IT. Driven by a desire to give back to the campus that played a significant role in her professional development, Clarissa joined CSAC. She is eager to contribute to building a stronger UC Berkeley community for staff. Clarissa holds an educational background in architecture, web design & multimedia, and is certified in HR Analytics from eCornell. Beyond work, she takes joy in edible landscaping and gardening, and exploring diverse cuisines.


Casey Hennig

One IT Program Manager, Berkeley IT

Casey Hennig is the One IT Program Manager for Berkeley IT. Her work is focused on building community, fostering professional development opportunities, and managing the multi-program One IT initiative. Making sure staff members feel seen, heard, and valued on campus is an important issue to Casey and why she wanted to join CSAC. Casey also serves on the Berkeley IT Action Team. The Action Team works with and on behalf of Berkeley IT community members in identifying and removing professional barriers related to inequality and racial trauma.

Worksite Wellness Specialist

Carla joined CSAC to contribute to campus efforts regarding equity, inclusion, access, and building community. As the Worksite Wellness Specialist with Be Well at Work Faculty/Staff health programs, she supports the health and wellbeing of employees who work in RSSP and Facilities Services. Carla received her B.A. in Sociology from UC Berkeley and an MPH in Community Health Sciences from UCLA. She is also the parent of a Cal student. In her spare time she enjoys exploring the Bay Area, on foot or by bicycle when possible.

Tanya (she/her) has been with the Department of Residential Life since 2016. Prior to coming to UC Berkeley, Tanya attended San Jose State University where she earned her Bachelors in Sociology, and then the University of San Francisco where she received her Masters of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs. Tanya has recently returned to the University of San Francisco to pursue her EdD in Organization & Leadership. Tanya has a passion for supporting staff and mentoring new professionals. She joined CSAC to connect with others across campus in an effort to build partnerships and help create a stronger staff experience at Cal. In her free time, Tanya enjoys arts and crafts, spending time with friends and family, watching TV, and taking dance classes.

Research, Teaching, and Learning Service Lead

Miles is a part of the Research, Teaching, and Learning organization where he serves as the bCourses (learning management system) service lead in addition to supporting a portfolio of integrated tools for teaching and learning. He joined CSAC to understand and advocate for staff needs in his own unit and across campus with a particular interest in career development. He received his Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In his spare time, Miles enjoys running and biking.

Program Manager, Yardi Scholarship Program

Joanie Ly (she/they) is the Program Manager for the Yardi Scholarship Program, Berkeley’s newest student cohort program in the Division of Undergraduate Education. Joanie joined CSAC because supporting staff and their experiences is something that is near and dear to her having previously served as the co-founder of the Asian Faculty Staff Association at Sonoma State University, and as Program Chair for the Asian Staff Forum at Stanford. Joanie hopes to continue to connect, advocate, and learn from staff here at Berkeley. Joanie received her M.Ed. from Rutgers University and her B.A. in Political Science from UC San Diego.

DEIB Lead, Berkeley IT

Britt is the DEIB Lead for Berkeley IT. She is responsible for developing and implementing initiatives and programs related to diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility. Over the years she has helped create curriculums and training surrounding BIPOC and LGBTQ+ inclusion and equity in collegiate student life programming. In 2015, she created a short documentary on the negative impacts of gender (binary) socialization. Britt joined CSAC to connect with different departments on campus to share ideas, streamline processes and language, and create a collaborative platform that advocates and supports all staff. 

Ben Perez

Ben is an alum of UC Berkeley's College of Letters & Sciences and has served as a member of the UC Berkeley staff since 2014. He joined the UC Berkeley administration as the Campus Access Specialist with the Disabled Students' Program, developing and training staff in disability access initiatives across university programs. After working with university leadership to establish the new DAC office, Ben now supports Capital Strategies and Facilities Services as the university official responsible for physical access and ADAAG/CBC compliance in the built environment.

Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism

Jon joined CSAC to better connect with the campus community and to support campus’s efforts to improve the staff experience. Jon began his career at UC Berkeley as an advisor with the Fall Program for Freshmen before moving to the math department, where he is currently a Graduate Student Affairs Officer. Jon received his B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies and German at UC Berkeley and received his M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration at Harvard University. In his spare time, Jon enjoys hiking, playing board games, yoga, and traveling.

Undergraduate Academic Advisor, Rausser College of Natural Resources

Sarah joined CSAC to give back to the UC Berkeley community and find ways to help campus staff feel more seen, heard, and supported through inclusive organizational change. Sarah has been an academic advisor on campus since 2016. Currently, she supports undergraduates, helping them navigate their educational journeys and find community in the Rausser College of Natural Resources. Sarah earned her B.A and M.S in Counseling Psychology from CSU Chico. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys traveling, hiking, exploring new restaurants, and spending time cuddling with her cat, Patrick.

Administrative Building Coordinator, School of Social Welfare

As a former reentry/transfer student at UC Berkeley, Kelly joined CSAC to provide a perspective unique to that population, as well as a long standing interest in campus safety and emergency management. Kelly spent 21-years as a Fire Captain/Paramedic in Southern California before earning two AS degrees at Los Angeles Pierce College. He transferred to UC Berkeley in 2017 where he earned his BA in English with a double minor in History and Creative Writing. When not commuting to work by motorcycle, he is an avid cycling enthusiast and volunteer at Oakland Animal Services.

Director of DEIBJ Strategy and Inclusive Practices, University Development & Alumni Relations

Rachel is thrilled to be joining the CSAC community! They recently returned to UC Berkeley as the Director of DEIBJ Strategy and Inclusive Practices within UDAR. Their work encompasses a decade-long career working with education-related non-profits, schools, and colleges spanning from Colorado to Texas, Main and Minnesota, and now back to California. As a first-generation scholar and educator, Rachel’s work maintains an ardent commitment to educational equity by centering the holistic humanity of those most marginalized by interlocking systems of power to achieve collective liberation.

Faye’s entire career has been focused on information technology starting with private industry and later in higher education where she served 23 years in various technical and leadership roles. Currently, Faye is the Director of the Technology Program Office in Berkeley IT. She is also an award-winning author of noir mysteries, poems, and short stories. Having served as a staff advisory council member and then as chair at other higher education institutions, she understands how greatly advisory councils benefit staff through thoughtful hard work, collaboration, and advocacy. She joined CSAC to make a difference. 

Yanni Rho

Yanni Rho, MD, MPH 
Psychiatric Support Clinician (Consultant), University Health Services

Believing the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, Yanni joined CSAC in order to help build community, to learn from and support, and to facilitate conversations amongst all of the staff and departments.  She has been a member of the Justice, Inclusion, and Community Committee at University Health Services (UHS) as well as the UHS Staff Well-Being Committee co-lead.  She obtained her undergraduate and medical degrees with the University of Texas and her Child, Adolescent, and Adult psychiatric training with Harvard-affiliated training programs.  She also obtained her Master’s of Public Health with the Harvard School of Public Health, furthering her commitment to improving systems and the lives of the individuals within them.  For self-care, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, dance, and yoga.

Anh is excited to join CSAC and work with colleagues across campus! In her career, she has worked in nonprofits and higher education leading teams, raising money, and developing new programs to support historically minoritized communities. One of her favorite Cal memories was working at the Cal Alumni Association to manage the Leadership Award Scholarship Program, having received the same scholarship as a Cal undergraduate. In her free time, she is working on her dissertation, volunteering on the board of Bay Nature, and spending time in nature.
