    • Amit Shah was 16 when he became a part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1980. Subsequently, he became a part of the organisation’s student wing — Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP)
    • In 1982, he was made the joint secretary of ABVP in Gujarat
    • Shah’s association with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) began in 1987 when he joined the party’s youth wing, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM)
    • In 1989, he became the secretary of BJP in Ahmedabad. During this period, he played a pivotal role in publicising the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement and the Ekta Yatra
    • In 1995, Shah took charge as the chairman of the Gujarat State Finance Corporation
    • In 1997, he was made the national treasurer of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM)
