Javone Gibson has joined the Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball program as a graduate assistant for the 2022-23 season.
A native of Detroit, Gibson earned his BBA in Supply Chain Management from Eastern in 2016. During his prep days, Gibson was the starting point guard for Detroit Cody High School and helped his team to the PSL West Division title in 2011 before his team captured the district crown that same year.
Most recently, Gibson has served as a mathematics teacher at Old Redford Middle School where he also coached the sixth/seventh grade boys’ team in its first year playing.
Gibson, who owns his own business creating custom clothing and sportswear, has two children, Leiyah and Jailah.
