This page

[edit]

Isn't this page a bit "condensed"? Usually there are separate pages for each of a band's albums. Also, the heading for each member of the band with "X was drummer/singer/guitarist for 7 Year Bitch" seems a bit unnecessary and very different to any other band article. The Great Gavini talk to me

"Condensed"? Not really. The tendency towards separate pages for each album is because far too many pages are written by devoted fans who incorrectly imagine that a legion of people will look up that album title, and most of those articles are perpetual stubs that really should be rolled back into the band articles. When they come up on AFD, that's often the verdict, but usually no one bothers challenging them.
The tautological band-member descriptions sound silly, and I'll fix them. -- Jmabel | Talk 22:31, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Grunge?

[edit]

OK, having removed "grunge" several times, I'll back off a step, but I do want to see a citation on that from reputable critic. I know 7 Year Bitch's music well, lived in Seattle in the relevant period, and as far as I can tell no one here considered either 7 Year Bitch to be grunge. - Jmabel | Talk 01:50, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

4 months later, still no citation. - Jmabel | Talk 22:09, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why this show

[edit]

Why is the particular show that they happened to be playing when Kurt Cobain killed himself worthy of mention? They weren't particularly close to him. - Jmabel | Talk 01:18, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Took out 'Kurt Cobain' April 8th show mention again; this has little significance with 7 Year Bitch history and should not be included. Please stop including in article. Robertpaul826 01:10, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Discography

[edit]

Cleaned up discography a bit and took out music videos section. Robertpaul826 01:10, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mostly agree with what you did, except:
  1. Why remove the videos?
  2. Why link the years to general articles on the year? I could see linking to things like 1992 in music, but what use is a link to 1992? - Jmabel | Talk 09:47, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lacking response, I guess I'll follow my own instinct here. - Jmabel | Talk 21:13, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Punk not "grunge"

[edit]

Reverted style categorization back to punk rock instead of grunge; again 7 Year Bitch was known primarily as a punk rock band during their existence and only gained the 'grunge' moniker due to the fact they were from Seattle (which is itself convoluted logic). Robertpaul826 Despite the sig, this appears to have been left by User:67.186.130.99, not someone logged in. 05:15, 8 November 2007 (UTC). But (as is obvious from above), I agree entirely. - Jmabel | Talk 05:38, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would have to disagree that 7 Year Bitch were purely a punk rock band. This becomes apparent if one is familiar with both genres. Although their music was influenced by punk, it has many similarities with grunge music. The guitar sound is sludgy and heavy, with many songs featuring passages of slow-tempo power chords alongside faster passages (for example "In Lust You Trust"). Compare their music to similar bands like The Gits and Bikini Kill. These bands were from the same area and the same time period, yet they were not regarded as grunge. Now compare their music to that of L7 (particularly the album Bricks Are Heavy, released the same year as Sick 'Em) another all-female band considered both grunge and punk. It's also important to remember that, unlike punk, most grunge bands rejected being described as such, especially after the movement gained mainstream success. For these reasons I suggest the band continue to be listed as both grunge and punk. ...Superfopp 20:50, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Selene Vigil album

[edit]

I wanted to point out that Selene Vigil has a new album [[1]], but I also noticed that you got Lisa Fay Beatty's name wrong (see my remark in the discussion of her article). -- 2003:E2:AF0E:7F1D:1800:1670:B7A8:558D (talk) 13:06, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
