Stack Reference

[edit]

@Steelbeard: Please look at the references section. The full citation details are already given to the Stack reference at the bottom, there is no need to have it twice. This is a perfectly normal way of handling multiple references to different parts of the same source and reduces clutter in edit mode. On the link to google books, strictly speaking this is unnecessary as gbooks can be reached through clicking the ISBN link (along with the several other resources). However, if you are going to have gbook links you should have them for all instances of citations to the book. A common way of doing that is to turn the page number in the citations to a link that leads to the actual page being cited. SpinningSpark 12:19, 25 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Steelbeard1: pinging again with right username this time. SpinningSpark 12:21, 25 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Spinningspark: OTOH, the ISBN link you mentioned DOES NOT provide a direct link to the supporting chapter of the book. That was why I inserted the direct link in the first place. I did correct the erroneous citation and removed redundant ones. Steelbeard1 (talk) 14:16, 25 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In what way was it erroneous? You might not like the way I cited it, but it was certainly not incorrect as far as I can see. See WP:CITEVAR. SpinningSpark 16:16, 25 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You had already stated that the editor of the book was erroneously credited as the author of the quoted passage. So I made sure that the LINKED citation gave proper credit to Stack. Steelbeard1 (talk) 17:17, 25 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
