Major album debut

[edit]

This album was not Kid Rock's major album debut. that was with jive in like 1993. this was his second chance. i have changed that line. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.249.94.212 (talkcontribs)

Grits was never released by Jive they let the album sit after the Vanilla Ice fiasco. So Devil was his major label debut. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.9.37.113 (talk) 11:35, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Certification

[edit]

It also says that "Devil Without a Cause is currently one of the two records with a parental advisory label to be certified Diamond, the other being Outkast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" which without even doing any research I can tell you is wrong, because Eminem's "Marshall Mathers LP" was Diamond as of about 4 years ago, and I think it's safe to assume that this album comes with a parental advisory label as well. I didn't make any changes because I don't have an account, I'm lazy, and I'm really high, but even I know this, if you don't believe me look it up. Plus I'm sure that there are many other albums that have gone Diamond that have these stickers (biggie,2pac?). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.173.248.52 (talk) 03:51, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nu metal

[edit]

Regarding the inclusion of nu metal, this profile on the era states:

Devil Without A Cause, Kid Rock’s breakthrough album, and one that, while not nü-metal, extended the lineage of rap-rock

So this album is not nu metal. HellbillyWithoutACause (talk) 04:01, 18 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You would win this contest if the AV Club was the final word on genre. But they aren't... a bunch of other sources discuss the album in the context of nu metal. For instance, Drowned in Sound says that the album was "...one of the first out of the gates at the nu-metal race track..." Loudwire listed the five best nu metal albums including this one. Highly respected Billboard magazine said that three "definitive" nu metal albums were released on the same day: August 18, 1998. Binksternet (talk) 07:13, 18 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
