What's the purpose of this article?

[edit]

This reads like an advertisement for Collier's work. It does not cite or referance any of the other large literature on the debate about the role of economic factors on civil conflict. It also uses a non-standard term for the debate. I recommend deletion and/or merging it with a larger article on civil wars. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.137.134.189 (talkcontribs)

I would ask that you be very specific about how you believe this article to be spam, since I take your accusation that I am spamming quite seriously.
As for the other comments, I oppose merging as, based on my previous extensive work on the article civil war, I think this subtopic has plenty of room for expansion. See Wikipedia:Deletion policy if you wish to propose deletion, which I will predictably oppose. See Help:Moving a page for general information, though you should propose a new title here.
I further encourage you to improve and expand the article. See Wikipedia:Tutorial if you are not already familiar with how to edit. - BanyanTree 13:25, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

clean up and organization

[edit]

This article needs to be organised better. There's way too much information about David Keen and it's scattered randomly throughout. It's also very repetitive. There are other scholars dealing with greed and grievance, but this page is almost illegible — Preceding unsigned comment added by Realizar (talkcontribs) 13:53, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Propose move to Causes of civil war

[edit]

I propose renaming this article Causes of civil war, and changing its scope accordingly. The current scope seems to unduly emphasize specific causes to the neglect of others, creating a WP:POVFORK. The current scope also creates an awkward relationship with Civil war#Causes, whereas the new scope would simplify this relationship into the standard summary style.
