CONCACAF

[edit]

Why Guyana and Suriname, two South American countries, are members of Concacaf instead of Conmebol? Digodf 16:28, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Guyana, Suriname and the French Guiana have more cultural ties with the Caribbean nations than with the Conmebol countries JC 02:05, 15 July 2007 (PST)

Request for assistance on Guyanese football

[edit]

Would someone who follows Guyanese football care/be able to make a page for Alpha United, Guyana Football Federation's representative at the CFU Club Championship 2009? JohnnyPolo24 (talk) 14:02, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2006

[edit]

As I was digging around on FIFA's site, I noticed that Guyana had a remarkable calendar year 2006 -- ten wins in ten games, including five GC qualifiers. This boosted Guyana's FIFA ranking 87 spots in a little over a year, and landed them in a very favorable CONCACAF seeding for a country of such modest soccer history. By June 2008 it was mostly over, with a loss over two games in WCQ to Suriname. I feel like this story is worthy of inclusion in this article, but I'm not sure exactly how to do it. I may just add a history section that sticks out like a sore thumb. - Regards, PhilipR (talk) 07:04, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
