"...the first 'end-user relational database' that didn't introduce yet-another-file-format..."

[edit]

That interesting statement obviously suggests a question: which not-new file format(s) does Lotus Approach use?

I've read that the database files produced by Lotus Approach are named {something}.dbf, which suggests that they might be in dBase/xBase format, like Foxbase/Foxpro, Clipper, and Alpha-4. Is that a correct guess? NCdave (talk) 15:58, 24 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Best ever program

for customized data bases. It does not deserve to be a stub that soon will be voted off. Approach enabled users to create their own dbs to meet their particular needs, whether a library or a wine cellar, riding stables or accountant. Resizing etc was easy. I will never understand why IBM hived it off because of a supposed "incompatibility". You can still download it. Not certain about w10 but up to w7 install, then go to properties and change compatibility to run in XP mode.74.12.127.245 (talk) 21:30, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
