Inline citations in parens

[edit]

I have read the Wikipolicy. There is always one someplace. If I had the time, I would look up the one that justifies replacing author-date with footnotes. There's always a Wikipolicy someplace that justifies anything.

I am not impressed with author-date inline citations. I find them distracting to the bio. They may be appropriate for some cases. The type where the editor would say anyway "Einstein said in 1933 that the universe is predictable[6]." Rather than "The universe is predictable {Einstein 1933)." The latter sounds funny IMO.

Where the reference is particularly germane to the topic which it usually isn't.

(BTW it's still footnoted with no place for the footnote). Student7 (talk) 13:08, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I never noticed the footnote mentioned by Student7 because it was not done properly. Since the article originally contained faulty footnotes rather than author-date citations, I have converted it to that format. --Gerry Ashton (talk) 14:03, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
