Seperate articles for "mother"-clubs

[edit]

Shouldn't the information about Olympique Lillois and SC Fives be located in seperate articles instead of just placing all info in the same article?--Froztbyte 02:48, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name of article

[edit]

Shouldn't the name of the artikel be LOSC Lille instead of Lille OSC, when that name is used more often (example: http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/clubs/club=75797/index.html)? Tøndemageren (talk) 12:13, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In the all time leading scorers section for Lille, Jonathan David currently has 82 career goals for Lille which makes him 4th all time in scoring in club history. 2607:FEA8:BE59:6200:DA0:B4D9:8678:82B7 (talk) 15:45, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 7 August 2024

[edit]

Lille OSCLOSC Lille – The current title is wrong in both WP:COMMONNAME and WP:OFFICIALNAME. Firstly, the club's official name is not "Lille Olympique Sporting Club"-- that's what it used to be. Today, the club's entire official name is "LOSC Lille". "Lille OSC", the current title, is used by nobody both in common and official usage. In media, the club is often referred to as "Lille", "LOSC", and often times as "LOSC Lille". We could move the title to just "LOSC", but since the English-language "short" name for usage in articles is just "Lille", this wouldn't really work smoothly. I say we should go by the club's actual name in this specific case, which is also really commonly used in sources, only third to Lille and LOSC (which I don't believe are valid titles.) • Oppose on basis of no sources. Their website is LOSC, and Soccerway has it as 'Lille OSC'. GiantSnowman 18:57, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: I might have been a bit hasty. The French Wikipedia confirms all I said above. I should have cited some sources. I went digging and couldn't find a 2012 source that explicitly states that the club changed its name, even though it's clear as day that the club went from "LOSC Lille Métropole" to "LOSC Lille" after that, as seen in their logo change. It hasn't been called "Lille Olympique Sporting Club" since 1998 (according to fr:LOSC Lille). I'm pretty sure this is correct even though no source backs it up. I understand that this probably means no move (for now). Paul Vaurie (talk) 22:04, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
