Unsourced speculation
[edit]Why are garbage "opinion" sentences allowed in this article without sources? Example: "In some cases this disguises blemishes or areas of their figure they are not comfortable with, or could simply be to prevent those parts of the outfit from being misplaced." Really? We need an encyclopedia to speculate that an all-nude stripper might leave some clothing on to cover up some cellulite or (perhaps) just because she's forgetful and might misplace her G-string before leaving the stage? - AppleBsTime (talk) 03:33, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
Contradictions and Advice
[edit]The first few paragraphs establish how male strippers are now just as normal as female strippers, but almost every other paragraph refers to all strippers with feminine pronouns or even simply as 'female'. "Sexuality and gender bias" seems much more like advice than information. It seems to address male strippers in the first few sentences (approach women displaying open body language), then advises women on how to get male strippers to approach them(dancers avoid women who look unfriendly or mean). It becomes glaringly obvious that this is supposed to be advice when it says "In order to become approached, men must-" This is an encyclopaedia, not a pickup artist's book. (My apologies if I'm doing something wrong, I am very new to Wikipedia and I've never done more than fixing grammar and typos) Henriio (talk) 02:18, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
Needs a substantial rewrite
[edit]Well, it does. Different cultures, history, notable individuals etc. Btljs (talk) 13:11, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
- Is that really necessary? What are some specific changes you think should be made? Professor Penguino (talk) 01:01, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
First photo
[edit]The very first photo in this article has nudity. I don't think the very first article should have this -- it should be moved further down just to be considerate to others who might click on the article an don't want to see that sort of thing. Professor Penguino (talk) 01:09, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
- I'm far more concerned (and offended) by the photo of the male stripper towards the bottom. It appears that he isn't wearing socks with his converse shoes, and that could lead to some very smelly feet. This goes against best hygiene practices. Viriditas (talk) 02:51, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
- Ok... Professor Penguino (talk) 23:25, 5 August 2023 (UTC)

- Yeah, I get that it's a joke. What else am I supposed to say? Professor Penguino (talk) 04:21, 6 August 2023 (UTC)

- "In the vast majority of human cultures, the breasts play no role in sexual attraction or sexual behavior. Defining breasts as sexually erotic, and fondling or manipulating them during sexual activity is best described as a cultural (learned) paraphilia of limited geographic and temporal distribution."[1] Viriditas (talk) 23:44, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
- This is the English Wikipedia, is it not? How is nudity usually viewed in English-speaking countries? When did I ever say it was sexual? Yes, having a semi nude photo as the first image in an English Wikipedia article is problematic. Professor Penguino (talk) 04:23, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
- I'm familiar with those historical discussions on the subject, but I must ask, how and why is a "semi nude photo" problematic? Perhaps the real problem is people pushing their religious beliefs on to others? If you start off by thinking that the human body is "problematic", then your entire worldview is fucked. Viriditas (talk) 10:15, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
- Erm... what? I'm saying having it on a site used by lots of people is problematic. You're misrepresenting what I'm saying. And I'm an atheist for goodness sake. Professor Penguino (talk) 23:30, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

- Already read. Just saying it should be moved down as a courtesy. Besides, it's already been done, so a continuing discussion is pretty pointless. Professor Penguino (talk) 21:37, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
