Talk:Upanayanam

I feel that the following sentense in the article is objectionable. "The Upanayana is a Hindu samskara for children of the three highest castes." Using the words "highest caste" will downplay the other castes. All the castes should be looked equally. I dont like to bring racism. (I am a kshatryia, but I dont like calling other castes as lower castes)

Coming to the last paragraph, I do not support the concept of seeing upanayana as an identity of a cast. It is true that only three casts perform the ritual, but I think that the last paragraphs is un-necessary. sunils 17:32, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
