I certainly got my bible when I left Adams' Grammar School, as did the rest of my year. And we didn't get one when we joined. Does anyone have any input on this? – drw25 (talk) 22:43, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't get a bible on joining or leaving the Elstree Girls School (1978-1985) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.28.45.1 (talk) 20:58, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In the article Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School it is stated
Every year a deputation from this ancient Livery company inspects the school and hands out St. John's bibles to every boy in the first year of the Main School (Year 7).
So-called St. John's bibles refer to the John book of the New Testament, one of 66 books in the whole King James' Bible--User:Brenont (talk) 23:24, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

1831?

[edit]

The significance of the mysterious date "1831" in the painted (cast-iron?) coat of arms illustrated might be noted in the caption.--Wetman (talk) 00:55, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mayors

[edit]

Here the 1538 is 'Sir William Fermor' - who does not appear on the link through page; on the List of Lord mayors of London he is 'Sir William Forman' - and likewise on [1] (being 'a good source'). Clarification? Jackiespeel (talk) 17:07, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

And here: 1883–84: Sir Francis Wyatt Truscott
