Quality Comics was not an acquired company.

[edit]

Quality Comics was definitely not acquired by DC. It's trademarks (characters and titles, but not copyrights or other corporate assets) were purchased by DC when Quality shut down. Source: Mike Kooiman and Jim Amash's The Quality Companion, TwoMorrows Publishing, pages 32-33. I recently updated the Quality article with more information about this. DC never used Quality as a logo or imprint. Not for the titles it continued (they switched to the existing DC brand) and not for any characters or titles they revived later.

The situation with Quality is similar to the situation with Charlton Comics and Fawcett Comics, with DC essentially buying the characters rather than the companies.

Given that some of the other entries here (All-American Publications and Mad) are also a bit dubious to me (the former always overlapped with DC and the latter is a magazine rather than a company), I'm not certain enough of the criteria here to edit this directly, so I'm posting here to see if there's a particular rationale for Quality's inclusion.

Change to DC Entertainment to expand the template

[edit]

Instead of creating a DC Entertainment template, how about simply expanding it. Basically merging it with Draft:Template:DC Entertainment into simply "DC Entertainment." 24.126.30.250 (talk) 06:22, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
