The 'main debates' section[edit]

None of the debates listed in the 'main debates' section is strictly related to positivism. They are rather debates over social-science methodology that were influencial to / were influenced by (actual but less notable) positivism/antipositivism disputes; the debates that SummerWithMorons proposed for inclusion are the Methodenstreit of economics, the Werturteilsstreit, the Positivismusstreit, the Science Wars, and the Flyvbjerg Debate. Rtc, however, proposed to not include in the section the Positivismusstreit on the grounds that Popper was in fact an opponent of positivism (the relevant article has more on the controversy regarding the term 'positivism dispute'). But by the same token none of the debates mentioned above should be on the list. I recommend that we just rename this section as "Related debates over method" and include in it all five debates. --Omnipaedista (talk) 03:58, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
