Archiving

[edit]
Care to meet me for a light luncheon at my sandbox? --Cameron
I made a minor correction (you seemed to have archived to the wrong page), hope you dont mind. --Cameron (t|p|c) 11:45, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
PS:When you cut and copy the contents over make sure you copy the text in 'edit this page mode' to make sure the headers appear the same and you don't have '[edit]' show up next to every subheading. --Cameron (t|p|c) 11:51, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
PPS:Sorry I forgot to tell you: Most users add {{talkarchive}} to the top and bottom of the archive page as it prevents people from editing it. I took the liberty of doing so on your page...feel free to rv if you dislike it...--Cameron (t|p|c) 11:54, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Gazz. I'd change the April 08 to Jul 06-Apr 08, if I were you. GoodDay (talk) 18:46, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, probably a good idea. Unless one archives monthly as I do. --Cameron (t|p|c) 15:49, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Scotland & British Isles articles

[edit]

Hello Gazz. First, User:Barryrob at Scotland suggests I'm bordering trolling; then User:Matt Lewis suggests I'm 'not helping things' at British Isles discussion. Looks like I'm not gonna win any beauty contests at either of those articles, am I? giggle giggle. GoodDay (talk) 15:28, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hey that's actually a really good idea! Wikipedia beauty contests! --Cameron (T|C) 14:09, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for sticking up for me Gazz. GoodDay (talk) 18:43, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

President of Australia

[edit]

Just curious; who would you like to see in that office (as your 1st President). GoodDay (talk) 22:48, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd pick Whitlam aswell, with a slogan: Remember '75. GoodDay (talk) 23:35, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Cromwell & Elizabeth II & Cameron I

[edit]

No prob; Cameron corrected my grammar - therefore you were probably going by the article's contributions list (which of course, list him after me; thus the confusion). GoodDay (talk) 23:42, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I still don't get it. Would you clarify? --Cameron* 18:59, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Quebec Talk Page

[edit]

I agree that shutting down a thread is an exceptional move. But I think it's justified here. It's becoming a medium for discussing the topic at hand, and not how to included the subject in the article. It's a judgment call, but I think the problem is chronic enough (especially now) that some sort of action be taken to discourage this. --soulscanner (talk) 20:13, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you in most of your points. However, I'll point out that this is the Quebec page which is of more importance than most other articles. Also, I'm sure that the administrator is aware of the other forum-like rantings in the past, and that this figures strongly in the decision to shut down the discussion this time. You'll also notice on Nat's discussion page that someone did request the shut down. In any case, I think wiki is well served to have this particular string archived. --soulscanner (talk) 16:23, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

British Isles usage

[edit]

Would you believe the discussion continues on that topic? The latest article of note? River Shannon. Perhaps the proposed task-force will help things along. GoodDay (talk) 23:25, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2008 Canadian federal election??

[edit]

Get this. 1] My prime minister (who has a Minority Government) wants to have a federal election, despite the Fixed Elections Act (which he & his party made into law) - on grounds that the 39th Parliament is disfunctional (due to the opposition's lack of cooperation). 2] The opposition (the other parties) don't want a Federal Election (at least not yet). 3] and the Official Opposition (if it joined with the others) could force an Election by bringing the Government (a Government which it despises) down, but refuses to do so (mainly cause they're afraid at this time, they'll get badly beaten at the Ballot). Government wants out, opposition wants to keep them in: Governor General, the stage is yours. GoodDay (talk) 21:16, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He won't resign his Government - just want's to dissolve Parliament. Imagine if the Governor General refuses to dissolve Parliament? Or asks the opposition parties to form a coalation government (though I highly doubt it). GoodDay (talk) 21:29, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He's going to (any day now) this week, according to the other party leaders. GoodDay (talk) 21:38, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

October 14, 2008. Let the campaign for the 40th Canadian Parliament commence. GoodDay (talk) 00:30, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PS- I was hoping that the Governor General would refuse to dissolve Parliament; something unexpected & exciting. They're just aren't any Byng's or Kerr's anymore. GoodDay (talk) 16:18, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Gazz. Holy smokers, G2bambino is retiring, so is Matt Lewis. At this rate, I'll be the oldest (tenure wise) registered editor (if not the oldest editor) on Wikipedia. May have to change my name to GreyDay. GoodDay (talk) 13:02, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Commonwealth realms & republics

[edit]

Hiya Gazz. Perhaps (someday) the articles Commonwealth realm & Commonwealth republic will have to be merged as a sorta sister article to Commonwealth of Nations. -- GoodDay (talk) 23:10, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've always found the Commonwealth of Nations, politically confusing. Yet, it works. GoodDay (talk) 23:18, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but what does it do? It doesn't do anything. Its not even like the UN- it has no coercive power.--Gazzster (talk) 02:06, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Guess that's why it works; it doesn't do anything (except hold Commonwealth Games). GoodDay (talk) 23:43, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You've a point their at Commonwealth realm. Things are starting to become like: my version is better then your version stuff. -- GoodDay (talk) 21:02, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

41st Canadian federal election?

[edit]

Hiya Gazz. Do you have any smelling salts for me? The opposition parties are threatening to topple the Harper Government (over the economy). GoodDay (talk) 01:14, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PS- Have ya noticed, my country's Finance Minister looks like Lou Costello. -- GoodDay (talk) 01:16, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There's an article on the topic (it was created 'bout a fews days ago). I wouldn't call it a Constitional crises (as nothing unconstitutional occured). IMHO, the Governor General did the correct thing (at Harper's request) suspending Parliament until Jan 26, 2009. I'd be flabergasted, if the Liberals & NDP can keep things togehter 'til then (while mainetaining the BQ's support). The potential big showdown will be January 27th, 2009. If the Libs, NDP & BQ defeat the Conservaitve minority government on their Budget bill (and they still can present a coalition), the GG will have 2 options: Dissolve the 40th Parliament & call an election (at Harper's request) or appoint a Liberal-NDP coaliton government propped by the BQ (at Dion?, Layton request). Question99, thank you for your interest in my user page. If it offends you, you don't actually have to read it. Obviously it's a light-hearted observation, with enough truth in it to be recognisable to people who saw the humour and laughed at it. Gazzster (talk) 12:21, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Commonwealth realm

[edit]

Gazzster - From my interpretation of your comments at Talk:Commonwealth realm, you disagree with User:Japinderum's stance that the Realm of New Zealand is a Commonwealth realm. Yet, you seemed to approve of his proposal to list the Realm of New Zealand as a Commonwealth realm. Could you please clarify your posititon? Japinderum is using your comments to justify his change to the table of Commonwealth realms.

BTW, I missed your earlier "hello" at that talk page. So, sorry, hello, and I'm doing relatively fine! --Ħ MIESIANIACAL 16:14, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, Mies! Yes, this 'Real of New Zealand' thing is weird!
