Information icon Hello, I'm Ingenuity. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Femboy, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. —Ingenuity (t • c) 16:13, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The End of May 2024

[edit]

Good afternoon my fellow Wikipedian. I had noticed you found interest working on one of my favorite articles of all time Femboy. I also noticed that you wanted to add the information of "The term has also been used, independently of any meaning related to sexuality, as an alternate spelling for boy." This piece of information is completely fallacious. While many consider "femboy" to be a sexual orientation, it is more of an aesthetic identity. Sexual orientation is defined as "an enduring personal pattern of romantic attraction or sexual attraction." An identity of how one presents themself is not an enduring personal pattern of romantic attraction or sexual attraction. I understand how you come in good faith, editing Wikipedia articles in order to provide readers with information regarding what topic they want to research but I ask that you shan't spread misinformation regarding what a femboy is. "Femboy" is not an alternative meaning for boy because boy and "femboy" have two different meanings. A boy is defined as a male child while a femboy is defined as a "slang term for boys who expresses themselves with traditionally feminine behaviours." I then noticed you decided to add the definition of "boi" according to Dictionary.com, that I will keep because I feel it adds more information to the reader. That is why I reverted your edits. Best of luck to you and your future editing and please double check before your info before making an edit.

Oxford Languages's definition for "boy"[1] Chumchumlol (talk) 17:20, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you'll look at the line immediatley preceeding what I had edited - you'll see that I was referring to boi as an alternate spelling of boy - not femboy. Many people spell it femboi without reference to sexual orientation. The reference also notes the usage as a simple alternate spelling as support for the statement. Take a moment to understand the subject and full scope of a statement before calling it vandalism or discuss it first so I can improve clarity. That way you shan't jump to conclusions. Thanks.
