Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

All the only edits are towards Emilia Clarke, complete similar editing pattern, two have similar talk page issues, one account created just to add a reply comment. Looks like socking to me. Govvy (talk) 08:30, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I know the concept of friendship might be foreign to you, but some of us have friends from the same fandoms to back us up if there's something that concerns Emilia — which includes creating Wikipedia accounts because of a picture change. Feel free to "investigate" lol. DemisLittleWarrior (talk) 20:06, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
At this point running a checkuser almost feels pointless Trade (talk) 21:55, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Comments by other users[edit]

Accused parties may also comment/discuss in this section below. See Defending yourself against claims.

The suspected sockpuppeteer seems to be a WP:SPA dedicated to changing the infobox image on the Emilia Clarke article, at this discussion. This – with three accounts registered just today – looks like an obvious case of WP:ILLEGIT #6 ("contributing to the same page or discussion with multiple accounts") to create a false consensus. Birdiepeets is another single-edit account that previously backed DemisLittleWarrior's position. Not sure about Haeskai, who commented within minutes of DemisLittleWarrior starting the discussion.

Fairly low-level stuff, and silly to sockpuppet over a photo, but looks like sockpuppetry all the same. Not sure whether this is CheckUser-worthy. SuperMarioMan (Talk) 19:49, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's called having friends from the same fandom who are just as annoyed with the unnecessary changes. :) Creating accounts to agree with something that concerns the actress you like takes 5 minutes and it's not my or my friends' problem user Govvy was outvoted. What you are describing sounds a lot like meat puppetry, which is also against the sock puppetry policy. – 2804:F1...7A:B4D (talk) 20:37, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, are you people not familiar with the concept of fandoms and what goes on when you're a part of one? We've been having issues with the picture change for months and everything was fine until user Govvy joined an old discussion, which would've been absolutely fine if they didn't make the change people DIDN'T agree with. You can't stop people from joining Wikipedia and contributing to the cause if they want and you can't force them either lol. DemisLittleWarrior (talk) 20:54, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We most definitely can and do stop people from recruiting their friends into joining Wikipedia for the sole purpose of manipulating consensus. The project is not an anarchy or a forum for unregulated free speech. –RoxySaunders 🏳️‍⚧️ (💬 • 📝) 21:23, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Seriously tho i would much rather we just resolve the dispute image promptly so the "little warrior" and her friends can move on from the article and SPU can move on to more urgent cases Trade (talk) 22:06, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So what I'm hearing is if there's a discussion people want to participate in they're not welcome to join and contribute because it's "manipulating consensus"? If it's something they care about they should be discouraged from joining because... why exactly? Mind you we're talking about a high profile figure here and as I told another user, people were unhappy with the picture that was used before I made the change. First it was sockpuppeting now it's "canvassing" lol should we not talk about wiki with anyone on any platform because it might inspire someone to join? 🤔 DemisLittleWarrior (talk) 22:39, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
