Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Martial arts|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.

Removing a closed AfD discussion

Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.

Other types of discussions

You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Martial arts. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

Semi-advertorialized article about a martial artist, not properly referenced as passing inclusion criteria for martial artists. As always, martial artists are not "inherently" notable just for existing, and have to be shown to pass WP:GNG on reliable source coverage about them in media and/or books -- but this is referenced entirely to directly affiliated primary sources that are not support for notability, with no evidence of GNG-worthy reliable source coverage shown at all. Delete: Nothing about this person, there's a Para-olympian with the same name that gets a bit of coverage [1]. This martial artist isn't notable and has a lack of coverage. Oaktree b (talk) 00:50, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Delete Martial arts rank does not determine notability nor does training under unnamed "various world’s renowned and best Karate and kobudo sensei." None of the coverage shown is from independent sources nor did my search did find multiple examples of significant independent coverage of him that would show he meets WP:GNG. He is a well know and prominent figure in India for teaching authentic Japanese martial arts. Also a primary source for Shitoryu. We would not advise that the article should be deleted. Wikipedia as important source for information and if this article is deleted then it will leave Indian people hard to find information authentic teachers of Japanese martial arts. The bar for a Wikipedia article is not "did stuff", it's "received WP:GNG-worthy coverage in reliable sources about the stuff he did in media and books fully independent of his own self-published web presence", of which this article cites none. Bearcat (talk) 22:13, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keep I've added content and WP:RS that supports the article. This article is specific to not only an event within Taekwondo at the 2024 Summer Olympics – Women's 57 kg, but also the prior tournament, the background and events surrounding the bout including the censorship, as well as reactions. Having all of this information placed within the Taekwondo at the 2024 Summer Olympics – Women's 57 kg article is unbefitting and WP:UNDUE.--Ronnnaldo7 (talk) 21:39, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Delete as an unnecessary WP:CFORK, all of the content can be covered adequately elsewhere. Of the text in the article:

The fact that it's a rematch of a 2020 match is somewhat trivial
Kiani won the silver medal, the latter being the first for an Iranian woman at the Olympics, surpassing Alizadeh's 2016 bronze feat can be mentioned at her article and/or Iran at the 2024 Summer Olympics
While Kiani competed for the Iranian team, Alizadeh competed for the Bulgarian team after having represented the Refugee Olympic Team at the 2020 Summer Olympics, and Iran at the 2016 Summer Olympics where she became the first Iranian female medalist at the Olympics. can be covered in Kiani's article and the relevant "Team X at the Y Summer Olympics" articles.
Alizadeh became Bulgaria's first-ever taekwondo competitor at the Olympics, and won Bulgaria's first medal in Olympic taekwondo can be mentioned at Bulgaria at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
"Aftermath" section can be mentioned in either the event article, this can be added to Concerns and controversies at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Comment Excellent summation by Joseph2302. I do believe this does not deserve its own WP article as is seems like WP:NOTNEWS. I do think there's material there that can be put into existing articles--especially since they're both individually notable. I'm just not sure where the best fit is for all the information.
