Feedback needed at Mfecane talk page

[edit]

Hello everyone! I've been preparing for a re-write of the Mfecane article and would really appreciate some feedback at the talk page. Thanks in advance! Pliny the Elderberry (talk) 18:54, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Need help with creating a consensus

[edit]

About 2 months ago, I made an RFC at Talk:Somalia#Somalia showed as controlling Somaliland. After a slow RFC after which the opinion remained split, nothing happened. Owing to a recent edit war regarding the image, I am posting this here for further input so this issue can be put to bed. Fantastic Mr. Fox (talk) 20:51, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Using sources in French

[edit]

Hello, not sure I have time for this but.... I was reading French Wikipedia on Agbéyomé Kodjo, an ex-Prime Minister of the Togo who has recently died. French Wikipedia and another source do not match exactly what's on his page here in English. Particularly the fact that the English page mentions one former president, but there are 2 by that name, a father and son. What I find in English is very badly translated and possibly from an African language, not French. Just wondering. I posted something on the particular page's talk, but as near as I can tell, it has only been created by a bot. RoseSuna (talk) 02:12, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'll add it to my watch list and look at the corresponding French article later, probably in the next few days. First time come across this article. Tamsier (talk) 07:45, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

reported copyvio

[edit]

Hi, a user marked copyvios on Phoenician settlement of North Africa, could someone please review the article and address any potential copyright violations? Thank you! I also left a note on other WikiProjects tagged on the article's talk page. 82.169.19.7 (talk) 12:16, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Starting this July, we will see a new contest on the scene - the Developing Countries WikiContest (WP:DCWC)! Think of it as a WikiCup but only for articles and media on developing countries.

Competitors may submit GAs, GTs, FAs, FTs, FLs, FPs, and DYK and ITN entries from/on developing countries to gain points and proceed to further rounds. Points are also awarded to those who review GAs, FAs and FLs.

All articles on African topics are admissible for this contest, since nearly all African countries are listed as developing countries. Indeed, Africa has many least-developed countries, and contest submissions from these countries will get a multiplier in points. I encourage everyone here to sign up and compete with editors from around the world to create high-quality content!

Append your name to the DCWC signup page today!

Best wishes, Wilhelm Tell DCCXLVI (talk to me!/my edits) 18:11, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

University of Burundi new digitized documents and catalogue

[edit]

Hello! I’ve been in touch with Paul Gatavu, the librarian at the University of Burundi in Bujumbura. They’ve been digitizing loads of material, including theses, dissertations, papers and reviews, and they can be searched and accessed freely, with fulltext search, here!

You can read about the digitization project here. Zanahary (talk) 13:52, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for this, this is great news. -Indy beetle (talk) 14:07, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's amazing! The vastest majority of this stuff hasn't ever been digitized at all before. It's an amazing project, especially at a university so underfunded as UB. Zanahary (talk) 14:12, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Talk:United States has an RfC. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments on the discussion page. The previous one was closed due to it being too combative and not inducive to discussion. Thank you. Alexanderkowal (talk) 09:01, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Would love to see more editors participating in this challenge on a diversity of topics and countries! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:37, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Review of new article with relevance to rural Africa water supply?

[edit]

Hello, I've recently (on 1 July) resubmitted a new article for review, could someone with reviewer rights please do the review and, if they agree that it's notable, move it from draft to main space? The article is about a network that does a lot of work on water supply for people living in rural Africa, so it's of relevance for this project. Here is the draft article: Draft:Rural Water Supply Network. (I've stated on its talk page how I am professionally connected to that network and how I manage the potential conflict of interest). Pinging User:Sadads in the hope that he has time to review this new article. Thanks. EMsmile (talk) 14:30, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
