[edit]Inherited from Prakrit 𑀩𑀁𑀥𑀇 (baṃdhaï), from Sanskrit बन्धति (bandhati). Cognate with Hindustani بان٘دْھْنا / बाँधना (bāndhnā), Gujarati બાંધવું (bā̃dhvũ), Marathi बांधणे (bāndhṇe), Sindhi ٻَنڌَڻُ / ॿंधणु, Bengali বন্ধ (bondho), Assamese বন্ধা (bondha), Sylheti ꠛꠣꠘ꠆ꠗꠣ (bandá), Sinhalese බඳිනවා (baⁿdinawā), English bind.
