I regret that I can’t go lower than one…

I regret that I can’t go lower than one star. Consumer protection is a joke. Despite filing a fraud dispute within the required timeline Citizens Bank has refused to honor their agreement to reverse the charges. Each call brings a different story. Stay away if you value your security and your money.

Stay Away !

I have been doing business with this bank after they took over for the previous bank. I have had some of the worst possible service from this company i have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. The list of things that have they have either botched been unwilling or unable to fix is long and I won't boar you. Not the least of which is when they have declined payment with my card and my money because they said it was a fraud alert . After i make this same charge every month and have told them not to decline it. On top of which it is for medicine for my wife. Think about that. Month after month. This is one example of many. I am currently on hold with them because they didn't pay a toll charge with my card and my money ( plenty of money in the account ) and they can't even tell me why. TAKE NOTICE- STAY AWAY!

tons of hidden fees

tons of hidden fees, for example nobody tells you this when you are signing up, but you basically need to have deposited money or purchased something once each month in order to avoid a 20$ fee to your checking account.

Another thing, they freeze your account if you spend over 300$ on something without telling them first, as if it is their money or something, what a s h t t y company, it took a lot of work but I changed banks now

I have filed 3 claims totalling $461

I have filed 3 claims totalling $461. Currently the overdraft amount on my account has changed today from $300 to $382.
After more than 15 calls to the customer number I have been able to be in contact with anyone beside echo employees. Someone in the claims department told me he filed a request to have the $461 under review to be transferred to my account. I was supposed to get a phone call to inform that that was done in five minutes. It was 6:00
Now it is ,6:40 zi have called Citizens 5 more times. I get the same message now as I did yesterday. There is nobody home to help. The same message is repeated by different employees. My $461 is their hands.
I am being tired with by low grade capricious misfits.
My ,$461 I earned teaching Spanish, waking up at 3:30 am daily. May my money in your pockets burn and ignite the rest you have kept for yourself.
I 'll see you around. There are others greater than you as you will find out. You are not the biggest nor the baddest dog in this town. Good luck.
Enjoy!!!?

Branch in Stop and Shop

Branch in Stop and Shop
Raynham Stop & Shop
36 New Cape Hwy
Raynham, MA 02767
(508) 824-2165

Bank teller Nate (who also refused to give me his last name) accused me of fraudulent check cashing after i handed him a government check for being my mother’s caregiver. He continued on to berate me and embarrass me telling me the check is fake and he will not service me. I felt racially profiled as I am a black woman and Nate is a white male.
This ultimately had me close my citizens account. As I’m walking away he shouts behind me for the whole store to hear “you forgot your penny you poor black b****. Try seeing if another citizens bank will cash that fraudulent check for you.” I will never return to that branch and Nate should be heavily penalized for his behavior with either termination, suspension, or given a course on how important it is to show inclusion and equality, anger management, and proper customer service etiquette.

I applied for a HELOC loan

I applied for a HELOC loan. Was supposedly approved after they pulled credit report but final approval never came and loan officer refused to return my calls/emails to let me know the status. I should have checked reviews for this bank before allowing them to pull my credit which now shows as an inquiry.

Citizens Bank… Never again

I was grandfathered in to Citizens Bank from HSBC after they discounted their global accounts.

From day one they’ve been a nightmare. Online banking wouldn’t work, started charging fees for everything: paper statements, a balance <$5k.

After I closed my account I accidentally sent money to it. When I phoned them to help return my money they said there was nothing they could do, no one I could speak to, no other department they could transfer me to and then hung up.

Debit card fraud…

I have never used my debit card anywhere other than a citizens bank branch. NEVER. I have never used it in the internet or in person at any store or gas station. Somehow, fraud keeps occurring. No one can explain to me why this is. I lost 8 hours of work today not including a trip to my citizens branch. I was told I would have to close my checking account and open a new one for the third time this year, resulting in countless more hours of missed work. Stay far far away from citizens bank.

I have citizens Pay through Vivint and…

I have citizens Pay through Vivint and I regret that I did this! They are so unprofessional to the point where they are over charging my account every month when I have a contract that states I pay a certain amount monthly! My monthly bill is paid in full every month and I’m harassed by customer service as if I owe them money when I know I don’t! I think it’s time to take legal action against them for their unprofessional conduct! Not to mention the affect it has on my credit score and reputation!!!

Very corrupt

Very corrupt. I mobile deposited a check and they put it on an extended hold for unknown reason. I told them it cleared from the bank it was issued from but they said it has to go through federal reserve first. Huh?? They’ll make any excuse to hold your check. So if it already cleared on issuer’s end and they do this for thousands of customers, they’re sitting on millions to do some short day investments like in currency etc. Easy money they’ll ever make.

Moved from N H to Florida and wanted to transfer my $$$ to new bank. Told by Citizens that they can only do a transfers in person. I can't believe I can't get my money. they have been sitting on my $$$ and I have been trying to get it. for One month now. BTW the closest Citizens bank is 4 hrs away and then 4 hrs back. What a scam. Are other banks unable to do transfers without the owners of the account. I doubt it.

Stay away they're a nightmare!!!!!!!!

Absolute nightmare!!!! They buy high interest student loans without your consent then even if you pay your student loans on the due date they take a week or more to process the payments and then report you 30-60 days late to credit bureaus.

Citizens continues to behave like a 2nd…

Citizens continues to behave like a 2nd rate bank. I made a large deposit, which requires a hold to confirm. Citizens sent me a letter 2 days later stating date funds will be available. Then 3 days after the date the letter states funds are to be release, nothing. I call into the local Lake Orion, MI branch & am told they show funds will be available in an additional 3 days. Why send the letter, set expectations & not follow thru. People, if you are looking for a bank I do NOT recommend Citizens.

I hate having citizens bank

I hate having citizens bank. When I finally get some money I will close this account and never go back. They have an overdraft fee of 35 dollars on every single purchase and they give you less than 24 hours to pay it back. I despise this bank and will only try and find the best bank with no overdraft fee in the future. For now I have to keep it because I’m in a disabled position, but when I get more able to move and get in there I will find a bank that doesn’t take advantage of people like me.

A bank for criminal citizens not honest ones

They side with the fraudsters rather than the customers. A fraudulent charge ends up on my account and I dispute it and have to deal with getting a new debit card right away and the inconvenience of being out that money while the bank closes the dispute 2 weeks later with zero explanation. Zero refund.

BEWARE of the promotions in general

BEWARE of their promotions in general! Was sent a mailer about opening an account and setting up direct deposit and all those other things for a $600.00 bonus. Before setting it up I was assured by the branch rep that I was eligible and everything was good. Fast forward to the date I should've gotten the bonus and they said 'oh sorry, you weren't eligible after all so that's that'. These people are either incompetent or just consistent liars. Either way do NOT do business with them.
