My Apartment Dining Room
This Post May Contain Affiliate Links. Please Read Our Disclosure PolicyI’m calling it my dining “room,” but dining “area” might be more accurate, if you know what I mean. Whatever name we use for it, today I’m going to give you a look at how it’s finally coming together.
It seems like I’ve been waiting to share this space in my apartment with you forever. The dining table that I originally ordered (in the same style as the one you see) was damaged when it arrived back in early July. When I went to reorder it, it was backordered. Whomp. Whomp. However, it’s finally here and set up, and I’m super thrilled with it.
What do you think?
Apartment Dining Room Decor Ideas:
I kept waffling about what table and chair combo I wanted for this space. I was leaning toward the table you see here, but I was hesitant to get it because it has become the “it” table over the past year. As I mentioned before, I’ve been trying to avoid “trendy” pieces as I decorate and furnish my new space.
However, after doing hours of research and eliminating many tables because they were too large, this one turned out to be the best choice for me. (This table is available through a variety of online retailers; I ordered mine from LexMod.)
This dining area is part of an open concept space in my apartment. In the picture below, my kitchen is to the right and and I’m standing in my living room to take the picture. This space is rather long, so I needed a table in a size and shape that would not overwhelm the space.
Again, after lots of measuring and debating with myself, I decided that a round table around 40 inches in diameter would probably be best. I also knew that I wanted to have a wood element to warm things up and that it could be on the table or the chairs.

Having selected the table, I chose these walnut bistro/cafe-style chairs. I think they fit the space perfectly.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a source to share for these chairs. Getting these chairs was challenging, and the place I ordered them from was difficult to work with. However, after I purchased my chairs, I did find something similar here on Rejuvenation. The main difference is the spindles on the back of the chair. I hope that helps.
The fiddle leaf fig tree is real. I found it at a local shop called Farm & Forest. Thankfully it’s doing very well thanks to all the natural sunlight.
The pot was a HomeGoods find. Originally priced at $60, I got it on clearance for $25. Score!
So that’s it, friends. You’ve seen my new dining room. While I certainly will miss the big barn table I have in St. Marys, I already have a few table setting posts in the works for the coming season. It will be a fun challenge to decorate this new space and table for entertaining. I’m excited to share more.
I hope you’re enjoying seeing my new apartment take shape. It’s been a joy to have all of you on this adventure with me. I’ll be sharing more apartment updates (my new living room rug) with you next week. Until then!
Very cool ideas and atmospheres!
I’m trying to find photos that show your beautiful cabinet more clearly, because I am finally going to bite the bullet and paint my little cabinet while the dry air lasts. Can you point me in the right direction?

I would never have put your Saarinen inspired table with those bistro chairs and yet…voila! Good job!
I adore your dining area! What a wonderful, light-filled space for dining, coffee chats, reading, working, you-name-it…it’s perfect. Love those chairs! The curve of the backs is perfect for the round table and the wood brings balance, weight & warmth to that corner of the room. So inviting!
Thank you so much Shirley! You nailed every point I considered. I appreciate the feedback!

I love your new space! I hope you are having a lovely time, and really settling in and getting more comfortable.
Your dining area is terrific! I’m in love with the table and chairs – great mix of styles! Can’t wait to see the LR rug.
I love it! Your table is not trendy. It’s a classic! And you picked the perfect chairs. They’re a warm balance to the sleek table.
I’ve been having a terrible time ordering furniture on-line. It always comes damaged. I can’t imagine how much money these companies lose due to damaged shipments.
Funny, I ordered An oval tulip table from Lexmod and mine arrived damaged as well. They did replace it fairly quickly, but you would think that they would be more careful the first time around. Great looking space!
I’m a blogger living in an apartment, and finding other like-minded bloggers living in an apartment has been hard! I love to see you decorating yours.
