The National Institutes of Health (NIH) campuses host a variety of events that inform, challenge, and unite the biomedical research community. IRP investigators lead or participate in many of these events, and they regularly present their work at scientific conferences at the NIH and around the world. We invite you to learn about (and possibly join us in) some of our upcoming events. Unless otherwise noted, times listed are Eastern Standard Time (EST).
This public, two-day National Institutes of Health (NIH) symposium is organized by the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), the Sexual and Gender Minority Research Office (SGMRO), and the Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH). It brings together experts from the biological and social sciences to clarify and contextualize — but not resolve — the complexities around sex, gender, and genomics by considering them in their scientific, ethical, and historical contexts. These interdisciplinary conversations will aid scientists, policymakers, and the public in understanding the many dimensions of sex and sex characteristics and their relationships with gender.

NIH's annual Graduate and Professional School Fair is an in-person and hybrid event designed for those who are planning to apply to graduate or professional school in the near future. Summer interns, college students, and postbacs can gather information about how to apply to graduate or professional school, explore institutions and programs, and network with program directors and faculty members from institutions across the country.
The 2024 Graduate and Professional School Fair includes two types of sessions:
Hybrid panel sessions that provide recommendations for getting into graduate or professional school.
In-person exhibitor sessions that are opportunities to learn more about participating institutions and programs by connecting with their representatives.
Additionally, registered students and trainees will be able to access prerecorded workshops, panels, and interviews covering career paths in a variety of disciplines.
This event is for NIH summer interns and postbacs. We also welcome college students and postbacs from outside the NIH.
This year's NIH Research Festival will be held September 23-25, with a Green Labs Fair on September 26. Join us to learn about a wide array of incredible research being done in the NIH Intramural Research Program. Scheduled sessions include talks on the future of artificial intelligence (AI) research at NIH; research presentations by participants in the NIH Distinguished Scholars Program; lectures by some of the IRP scientists recently elected to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS); and a scientific poster session. The deadline to submit an abstract for the poster session is Monday, July 22, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
This symposium will discuss the development of cell therapy for the treatment of human cancer, from early studies to the current state of the art of basic, clinical, and translational research utilizing T cells, T-cell receptors, and chimeric antigen receptors.
