    At Hilti, our Learning & Development teams play a crucial role in driving business success by ensuring that every team member has access to learning opportunities that support their personal and professional growth. In 2022, our team identified a significant learning gap: leaders promoted from leading a team of individual contributors to leading team leaders were often assumed to be ready for their new roles without additional training. However, those who have made this transition know that it is one of the most challenging steps in a leader's journey and can be overwhelming without proper support.   Recognizing this, we embarked on a collaborative effort with a diverse team of learning professionals, experienced and new leaders of leaders, team leaders who report into that level, and our partners to evaluate the needs and co-create a comprehensive development program. This program provides an intentional journey for our new senior leaders showcasing the critical skills they need to succeed, while also providing space for deep reflections on leadership.   Our approach is global, featuring summits where leaders can connect, share challenges, and learn from one another. We also bring in our Executive Board Members and Management Teams from various regions and markets to share their own leadership experiences and insights. To further enhance the program, we provide each participant with access to an external executive coach, allowing them to explore personal leadership challenges in a confidential and supportive environment.   We are honored to have received external recognition in from of two golds - Best Senior Manager Development Program & Best Leadership Development Program - from Brandon Hall Group, which echoes the overwhelmingly positive feedback we receive from our participants. At Hilti, learning is an ongoing journey, and we are committed to continuously supporting our leaders as they grow.   My challenge to you – reflect on your journey.     Meet Lucy, a young woman whose life has been transformed through the PropelA program. By combining classroom learning with practical experience, the vocational education program ensures that students are well-prepared to tackle real-world challenges and find opportunities in the labor market. Hilti aims to inspire and support more young women to consider careers in critical, often male-dominated, industries. Supported by the Hilti Foundation, the PropelA program gives them the tools for success and self-worth. Lucy is in the process of building her career in construction and is already eager to give back to her community: “With this program I have found myself.     The PropeIA program is a great example of the transformative power of combining practice and education in Kenya. It seamlessly integrates classroom learning with on-the-job training to allow students to become professionals in critical sectors. How does this program work? Apprentices spend one week each month at school, gaining essential theoretical knowledge. For the remaining three weeks, they apply what they have learned at partner companies under the guidance of experienced mentors.     Neurodiversity is an often misunderstood topic which is close to my heart. I have always been passionate about fostering inclusion, but even more so since the birth of my son, Jasper. As the parent of an autistic child, I’m learning and growing every day. Jasper has helped me see the world through a different lens. Through navigating his daily needs and striving to be a better father, I have also learned to apply this unique lens to my work environment. This has helped me gain a deeper understanding of the differences and strengths of my team and has influenced my leadership style. Approximately 20% of the world’s population identifies as neurodivergent. While we aim to increase acceptence of neurodiversity, we should not shy away from it. What we can do to make a positive difference and act on inclusion: - create a safe space for those who think differently and adapt our work environments so people can feel comfortable sharing their experiences and leveraging their strengths - Make interviewing and onboarding processes more inclusive and easier to navigate - Educate, raise awareness and break misconceptions Creating an inclusive environment is not just an ethical imperative, but a strategic necessity. By fostering understanding, promoting empathy and valuing the individual strengths in our neurodivergent colleagues, we unlock their full potential. This leads to better results, stronger engagement and more innovation.     Diba Boru didn’t have the easiest start to life. Despite hard work to overcome his difficulties, opportunities were few. Now, the young generation in Kenya has more opportunities through the PropelA apprenticeship program, initiated by the Hilti Foundation, Swisscontact and Kenyan experts. This program follows the traditional Swiss education system that merges learning in the classroom with on-the-job training.     😊 Volunteering brings smiles and enhances lives.
