Josh Trank, Gareth Edwards, Lord & Miller -- you're gonna have company.

Colin Trevorrow, the Jurassic World helmer who's been attached to direct Star Wars: Episode X for something like two years now, is officially out, per a statement Tuesday on StarWars.com.

Here's the transmission:

A STATEMENT REGARDING STAR WARS: EPISODE IX

Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.

As for that "mutual" choice, we have some exclusive video from the meeting where that decision was made. Let's go ahead and look at that now ...

Oh my.

Well, surely the Lucasfilm brass will quickly get to work on hiring a new director, as the May 24, 2019 release date gives them a year and nine months, start-to-finish. Basically, cameras should be rolling any minute now.

Wait -- this just in -- we're getting anther clip of that selection process ...

We'll keep you posted on how that goes.

Rian Johnson, who is putting the final postproduction touches on Episode VIII ahead of its December release, would seem a likely candidate to just roll right into the next one -- except he's already been through that ringer. No one wants that experience twice, let alone back-to-back. Only George Lucas himself has directed more than one Star Wars film.

The higher likelihood is that Lucasfilm pulls in a Ron Howard-like veteran to steward a project whose lines are already clearly drawn. Someone who knows the Star Wars world intimately. A visualist who knows what they're getting into before the fur starts to fly.

Someone who can handle the pressure, bring the whole saga in for a landing.

I sense something. A presence I have not felt since ...
