According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the New Orleans area could experience dangerously high temperatures over the weekend and into next week. A combination of heat and humidity could lead to daytime high heat index values, or “feels like” temperatures of 108 to 112 degrees over the next several days.

The City of New Orleans today reminds residents that the Mayor's Office will host “Public Safety Summit: Building Connections for a Safer New Orleans” on Saturday, June 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University Medical Center, located at 2000 Canal St. The summit is free and open to the public and will bring together public safety professionals and community members from a broad spectrum of disciplines to work together to address violence reduction in New Orleans.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Tuesday, June 25. The weather forecast indicates that high humidity levels will result in heat index values – representing “feels like” degrees in New Orleans. Dangerously hot temperatures are expected to reach a heat index of 109 degrees by Saturday, June 28.
The New Orleans Mosquito, Termite, and Rodent Control Board (NOMTRCB) announced that it will conduct adult mosquito abatement tonight. Adulticide applications will target adult mosquito populations.

The City of New Orleans today announced that starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, June 17, the Department of Public Works (DPW) contractor Hard Rock Construction, LLC will modify lane configurations in both the riverbound and lakebound directions on Poydras Street between S. Claiborne Avenue and S. Liberty Street. This lane shift is essential for continuing the removal and replacement of concrete panels with the travel lanes.
