The NCAA requires each member institution to designate a Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) to represent the institution and its faculty in the institution's relationships with the NCAA  and its conference. The institution defines specific duties of the FAR. The FAR reports to the President, not the Athletic Department.

Pacific's FAR duties and responsibilities include:

  • Student-athlete welfare;
  • Academics / academic integrity;
  • Compliance / eligibility;
  • NCAA and conference legislation;
  • Advising the President with regard to the integrity of the Athletics program and the welfare of the student-athletes;
  • Helping to ensure institutional control of intercollegiate athletics; and
  • Completing other related duties as assigned by the President.

In addition, the FAR also:

  • Provides counsel to the Athletic Director in NCAA and conference policy development;
  • Sits on athletics committees as appropriate; and
  • Represents the University in conference meetings along with the Director of Athletics and the Senior Women's Administrator.
