COACHES & STAFF STUDENT-ATHLETES FACULTY ATHLETIC REP BOOSTERS PROSPECTS AGENTS AND ADVISORS NAME, IMAGE AND LIKENESS

This webpage is a quick reference to the many NCAA rules that apply to our boosters, former students, fans, friends, staff members and current and prospective student-athletes of the University of the Pacific. Since all applicable situations cannot be covered on this site, we hope you will ask questions as everyone involved with Pacific athletics has a role in compliance.

The University is proud to have your loyal support and continued interest in the athletic program. As we strive for continued excellence, we must always seek the highest standard of ethical conduct. With your assistance and cooperation, we believe we can accomplish these goals.

Pacific Compliance Policy Statement
The University of the Pacific is committed and obligated to the principle of institutional control in operating its athletics program in a manner that is consistent with the letter and the spirit of NCAA, conference, and University rules and regulations. Each individual involved in intercollegiate athletics is obligated to maintain competency in knowledge of the rules; to act within his or her realm of responsibility in full compliance with the governing legislation; and to report any violation of NCAA, conference, and/or institutional rules of which he or she is aware.

The commitment and obligation to operate the University's athletics programs in adherence to the principle of institutional control is both institutional and individual. Pacific is committed to maintaining the control of the athletics programs through:

  • Employment of responsible administrators, coaches, and support staff personnel;
  • Education of coaches, staff, student-athletes, and other individuals involved with athletics of their responsibilities under the rules;
  • Providing effective lines of communication between all affected constituencies; and
  • Discovering and reporting any violations of rules that occur.

We are proud to have your support and interest in our athletics programs; however, it is important to realize that even inadvertent actions can put the University at risk and/or jeopardize the eligibility of a current student-athlete or prospect. Please be sure to contact the Compliance Staff with any questions or concerns.

Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act Information Report
All coeducational institutions of higher education that participate in any federal student financial aid program and have intercollegiate athletic programs must provide information concerning their intercollegiate athletics programs under the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) of 1994, section 485g of the Higher Education Act of 1965, 20 U.S.C. 1092. This Act and accompanying federal regulations require that the annual EADA report be available for inspection by students, prospective students, and the public by October 15 each year. The fiscal year 2020 report may be downloaded by accessing the following link:

California Assembly Bill 2079 Disclosures
Pursuant to California Assembly Bill 2079, commencing January 1, 2012, California postsecondary educational institutions that offer athletic scholarships shall provide specific information on their Internet web site. Please click here to access information related to Pacific Athletics.

Graduation Rates
Because the ultimate goal of the college experience is graduation, the NCAA has devoted attention to researching student-athlete graduation rates for more than two decades. All colleges and universities are required by NCAA legislation and federal law (the Student Right-to-Know act from 1990) to report student graduation rates, and those institutions offering athletics aid are required to report for their student-athletes as well. The NCAA required student-athlete graduation rate data from the Department of Education's Integrated Post-Secondary Data System Graduation Rate Survey (IPEDS-GRS).

The NCAA has created the Graduation Success Rate (GSR). The NCAA GSR differs from the federal calculation in two important ways. First, the GSR holds colleges accountable for those student-athletes who transfer into their school. Second, the GSR does not penalize colleges whose student-athletes transfer in good academic standing. Essentially, those student-athletes are moved into another college's cohort.
