Promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine and Wellness in 2021, Christopher Pond enters his 32nd year as an athletic trainer on the Pacific campus in 2023-24.  He oversees an expanded portfolio of sports medicine and wellness services for Pacific's more than 300 student-athletes. He joined the Pacific staff in 1992.

Pond is a certified athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and oversees treatment and medical attention given to all of Pacific's intercollegiate sports.

Working closely with team doctors, Pond aids in the designing of rehabilitation programs for injured athletes. These programs are typically progressive and active in nature in order to allow athletes to return to duty in stronger, fitter fashion. Pond spends his winters as the certified athletic trainer on the bench for Pacific's men's basketball team, and was previously  the Tigers' athletic trainer in charge of football before its dissolution in 1995.

In addition to his duties in the athletic department, Pond teaches in the sport sciences department as a professor of athletic injury evaluation.

He was also named an Athletics Health Care Administrator and has been a lecturer of several classes at Pacific since 1990, including anatomy, health care administration and care and prevention of athletic training.

Pond was a 1988 graduate of Utah State University and spent two years as a graduate assistant at Arizona before arriving at Pacific. Pond currently resides in Stockton with his wife, Geniel. They have two children, Aaron and Ashley.
