  1. A 55-year-old motorcyclist has died following an accident early Monday morning on the Loop 101 near McDonald Drive. Around 3 a.m., a 22-year-old woman driving a Jeep Patriot sideswiped the motorcyclist. The male rider was knocked onto the ground, hit by a Hyundai Elantra, and pronounced dead at the scene. Northbound Loop 101 lanes were closed for several hours, and the Jeep driver is under investigation for possible DUI. (Arizona's Family)
  2. Alvaro Ovando Alvarez is in custody after allegedly allowing his 10-year-old son to drive his truck on the Loop 101 near Scottsdale Road. Arizona Department of Public Safety received a 911 call on Saturday afternoon about a red truck speeding and weaving on the freeway. After finding the truck and witnessing the driver changing lanes unsafely, a DPS trooper tried to stop the truck, but the driver kept driving. After DPS chased the truck, the driver eventually pulled over near the 7th Street off-ramp. Alvarez was in the passenger seat and arrested for "endangerment, having an open container of alcohol, and unlawfully permitting a minor to drive." (Arizona's Family)
  3. The Scottsdale Historical Museum at the Scottsdale Civic Center is in need of volunteers to assist with museum daily operations. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Residents interested in volunteering can email Terry Erickson at [email protected] or [email protected] or call 480-560-3392. (scottsdale.org)
