  1. The city released more details about the projected financial impact of Gov. Katie Hobbs' new bill to eliminate residential rental tax starting in January 2025. Per the official city statement, taking away the residential rental tax will "help the bottom line for landlords and rental property owners, but it will hinder the ability of Scottsdale and other cities to deliver services to the people living in those properties." Due to this reduction in revenue, the city may have to reassess the level of services that can be provided to residents. Check out the table at the link for specific projected numbers per fiscal year. (City of Scottsdale)
  2. The Eleanor, a new mid-century-themed brunch restaurant, is set to open this September in the former Scottsdale Dry Cleaners space at 3207 N. Hayden Road. Guests will be able to enjoy several coffee and latte options, such as Vietnamese and honey lavender, as well as mimosas and various craft cocktails. There will be several quick food options from the bakery, or guests can sit down to enjoy breakfast or lunch either inside or on the large patio. 3. Today is International Cat Day, and Scottsdale has been ranked as No. 7 on LawnStarter's "2023 Best Cities for Cat Lovers." To determine the rankings, 200 of the biggest cities in the United States were evaluated based on various categories like vets, cat-friendly housing, animal shelters, and affordability. Tucson was the next Arizona city on the list at No. 36, followed by Tempe at No. 77. (KTAR News)
