  1. HonorHealth and Via Linda Behavioral Hospital off the Loop 101 and Pima Road have partnered to offer a new military mental health program, called the Patriot Support Program. With suicide rates among active-duty members rising at an alarming rate, the program aims to "address the need for high-quality behavioral health services for military members" and includes "a 20-bed unit dedicated to active-duty U.S. Armed Forces, U.S. Reserve and National Guard members." The providers and staff have prior military experience or experience with military populations, and they have all completed "special military culture training." Patients in need of care can call 480-476-7000, schedule an assessment online, or head directly to the facility. (KTAR News)
  2. Two men are in custody after fleeing from an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper, leading to a pursuit that ended with eight additional individuals being injured. The trooper tried to pull the vehicle over after the driver committed a traffic violation near Chaparral Road, but the driver fled. After DPS performed a PIT maneuver on the suspect's truck during the pursuit, the suspect began driving the wrong way in the Loop 101 northbound lanes for about 2 miles prior to crashing into six other vehicles. The injuries of those involved ranged from "minor to severe," northbound lanes were closed for hours, and southbound lanes were also affected. (Arizona's Family)
  3. The Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center is asking for help from the public to name two orphaned baby mountain lions. The mother lion was hit by a driver, and she "desperately tried to return to her cubs but died just as she reached them." The brother cubs now live in a "spacious indoor enclosure" as their "furever home" at the center. In exchange for a donation of any amount, cast your vote for your favorite set of names online prior to Sept. 9! (Arizona's Family)
