  1. Approximately 1,869 residents lost power from around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday night until about 5 a.m. Wednesday morning. The APS outage affected customers from Via Linda to Via Camello Del Norte and from Scottsdale to Pima roads. Hope everyone is nice and cooled off by now! (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
  2. Vicente Anzu, a California man, has been sentenced to five years in prison for deed theft of a Scottsdale home. Debi Gotlieb lost her father, Jerry, in 2019 prior to discovering that his home had been stolen and sold without her knowledge. Anzu impersonated Jerry and sold the home to Zillow, and Zillow was in the process of reselling the home when Gotlieb figured this all out. It took the Gotileb family "months and tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees" to get the home back, but by time they did, all of Jerry's cherished possessions in the home were gone. Gotileb is proposing "Jerry's Law" to protect other property owners from deed theft, and Maricopa County recently implemented a "new notification system that sends an email to residents when someone tries to change the status of their property." (Arizona's Family)
  3. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale Virginia G. Piper Branch has opened the "Piper Teen Yum Hub," a brand-new kitchen at its teen center. The kitchen was originally built in 1991, and a LoanDepot campaign helped to fund the much-needed updates. The new space helps teens "learn to cook and create healthy lifestyles" and is used for "snack bar sales, culinary activities, and educational purposes." (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
  4. Impairment and speeding are suspected factors in a 5-car crash that occurred on Tuesday afternoon. Cars were stopped at a red light at Frank Lloyd Wright and Shea boulevards around 12:45 p.m. when a driver hit one of the stopped cars and caused it to hit three other cars. Three individuals were transported to the hospital, "including a 67-year-old man in critical condition." There were lane closures at Shea Boulevard and 110th Street for several hours prior to the roads reopening. (Arizona's Family)
