  1. Mark your calendars! The 2023 Fall Concert Series at Scottsdale Quarter is kicking off on Saturday, Sept. 23. Guests can enjoy free concerts every Saturday night on The Quad. The series runs through Nov. 4, and you can check out the full lineup of local bands here. (Scottsdale Quarter)
  2. September is National Preparedness Month, and the city encourages residents to make a "Go Kit" to include "food and water, medication, money, contact information and locations to meet." The city is reminding residents that the Street Operations division "activates a 24/7 on-call program to respond to storm-related damage on streets and washes." Residents are also encouraged to consider better alternatives to sandbags for flood control, such as flood diversion tubes, water absorbent cushions, and transportable flood fence barriers. You can check out Ready.gov for more details, or head to scottsdaleaz.gov/emergency to get safety tips and learn how to prepare. (City of Scottsdale, City of Scottsdale via Facebook)
  3. A scammer targeted the wrong victim last week when he called Scottsdale police sergeant Joe Lewis. Sgt. Lewis, who works in financial crimes, received a call with a cloned version of his grandson's voice, but he knew it was a scam right away. Sgt. Lewis recorded the call, during which the cloned voice indicated that there was a car accident, and a cash bail was urgently needed. Victims of these scams should not be embarrassed, as they are very intricate, but any funds provided to scammers are often gone for good or extremely difficult to get back. (Fox 10 Phoenix)
