  1. Scottsdale Unified School District celebrated filling several vacant positions, but more still need to be filled. Over the summer, a significant number of SUSD positions, including bus drivers and teachers, remained unfilled. SUSD held job fairs to recruit candidates, and they were able to fill all but six nutrition services roles and all but one Security Department position. Though there are still 16 openings in the SUSD Transportation Department, 10 bus drivers were hired over the summer and five people in training are expected to fill additional openings. SUSD still needs six carpenters, six custodians, eight groundskeepers, and 10 special education employees. If you are interested, you can check out SUSD career opportunities here. (scottsdale.org)
  2. Heads up! The Shea Boulevard paving project kicks off Sept. 5 and is expected to continue through Sept. 25. Shea Boulevard will be reduced to one lane of travel in each direction between Scottsdale Road and 96th Street while the work takes place, which will be Monday through Friday during the overnight hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. You can find more information about the project on the pavement preservation webpage. (City of Scottsdale)
  3. Desert Hills Presbyterian Church, located at 34605 N. Tom Darlington Road, announced the new fall class schedule for the "Fitness at the Rocks" program. The program "encourages participants to be physically, spiritually and socially active," includes free classes for all ages and fitness levels and is described as "particularly beneficial for adults 55 and older seeking to improve their overall health and wellbeing."
