  1. The Colorado River system will be in a "tier one water shortage for calendar year 2024," as recently declared by The Bureau of Reclamation. The system is currently operating under a tier 2a, but the wet winter helped with water levels and will "slightly increase Arizona's supply." The water levels also improved because some state water users, including Scottsdale, left quantities of water "behind the dam to boost Lake Mead" in exchange for financial compensation. This change in tier means that the city water supply will "remain stable for 2024," we will stay in stage one of the city's drought management plan, and water saving, and conservation efforts will continue. 2. Have you checked out The Parlay Kitchen + Cocktails at 9220 E. Via de Ventura, Suite 115? Owners Kyle and Erica Walters invested their life savings into the original Chandler location, and they opened this second location in March. The goal at both locations is to "hit a trifecta of stellar service, delicious drinks and phenomenal food." Guests can enjoy 24 different cocktail selections, a "tall list of wines," craft and domestic beers, and some hard seltzers. The menu options include lemon-rosemary chicken, Asian ahi tuna salad, and highly praised breading offered as a crispy chicken platter or honey hot chicken sandwich. You can check out the full menu here. (scottsdale.org)
  3. Scottsdale and Phoenix firefighters responded to a Paradise Valley house fire on Thursday. The fire occurred near Lincoln Drive and 68th Street, and one firefighter was "treated and taken to the hospital in stable condition for heat exhaustion." The cause of the fire is still under investigation. (KTAR.com)
  4. TruWest Credit Union, which is based in Scottsdale, received the "annual Service Excellence Award from Priority Financial Group (PFG), a registered investment advisor." The award is based on "the highest growth in gross revenue and assets in 2022 over the prior year across the more than 20 financial institutions PFG serves." Congrats, TruWest! (citysuntimes)
