​2 Arrested In Benicia​ For Multiple Warrants, Stolen Gun: Police

Two men were arrested in Benicia on warrants and suspicion of being in possession of a stolen handgun.

BENICIA, CA — Two men were arrested in Benicia on Friday on warrants and suspicion of being in possession of a stolen handgun.

Around noon, officers were sent to East Fifth and N streets after an automated license plate reader clocked a vehicle that had allegedly been involved with a theft of handgun in town.

Police located the vehicle in the 600 block of East L Street and saw a man and woman walking toward it. The man allegedly fled, but was located hiding in a nearby mobile home park. The suspect, Logan Hixson, 25, had a warrant out of another county and was allegedly in possession of illegal drugs. The woman cooperated with police and was released.

However, police allege they found another man hiding in the backseat of the vehicle in question, who was identified as the suspect in the theft of the handgun, Emanuel Santiago Ortiz, 26. Police allege they found a magazine associated with the firearm in the vehicle. Ortiz also had four warrants out for his arrest.

Hixson was booked into county jail on suspicion of drug possession, resisting arrest, appropriating lost property and the warrant.

Ortiz was booked into jail on suspicion of receiving stolen property and three warrants, two of which were for felonies.
