UCLA Football Meets With Chip Kelly In Search For New Coach

LOS ANGELES, CA - A contingent of UCLA athletics officials have met with former Oregon coach Chip Kelly about the school's vacant football coaching position, multiple media outlets reported Wednesday.

The meeting occurred Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Times, citing a person with knowledge of the situation who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the discussions were private.

When UCLA announced the firing of coach Jim Mora Sunday, athletic director Dan Guerrero said ``We will not comment on the search or candidates until we announce a hire, and I would remind our passionate supporters that speculation, rumors and innuendo are just that."

Kelly reportedly met with Florida officials on Sunday about their coaching vacancy and could be pursued by other schools, according to The Times.

Kelly guided the Ducks to conference championships in each of his first three seasons as coach and Bowl Championship Series bowls in all four of his seasons, including the 2011 BCS championship game.

Kelly then coached the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles to a 26-21 record over three seasons before being fired with one game remaining in the 2015 season. He coached the San Francisco 49ers to a 2-14 record in 2016 and was fired.
